Hi all well I've ordered some paint pens but till they arrive this is what I've got ( if they look better I may well redo what I've done now.

Hi
On the repair shop show (BBC 1) the young lady had a plastic ruler with some rubber fixed at each end, and she used that to paint lines.

Just a thought, the belt was not always in situe, especially when getting to the fair / show ground, so it could be rolled up and shown as stored.

The painting of the bolts on the wheels ? would they not have been identical all the way round i.e. red for right and blue for left or is it the other way round depending on whether left at the top or left at the bottom  %%  (watch out rivet counter about - damn covid)

Hi all well its finished (I just wish I had the steady hand I had in my youth) still not happy with the wheels.
My missus must like it as she wants it displayed on the mantlepiece.
The keen eyed among you may notice the belt is missing from the flywheel, im just waiting for a piece of leather from my mate Roy to arrive and that will be corrected.

like your other models beatiful! I wish I had that patience and skill.
Long drive belts were cut to length and joined with clips. If you watch old mill films you can hear the clicks as the belt joins run over the pulleys. They were not run very tight and were often treated with something  like Stockholm tar for grip. Some belts were rubberised for grip.BTW were the 'Brass' bits supplied brassed plastic?

Hi all. all very nicely done.  I have visited a few Country Fairs with traction engines driving machinery and most times the belt is crossed over.  I realise this reverses the drive but does it also keep the belt in position better as well?
I enjoy the slapping noise and clicks as mentioned, the last one I saw was driving an enormous circular saw the blade must have been 3 feet across, no protection to the operator but very satisfying to see it cut through large pieces of wood and the shower of wood chips.
I seem to recall that there is a clutch or somesuch on the large wheel on the flywheel side that releases the road drive when in use in the field.

regards
Roy

Tom Varley who retired and owned the real Pendle Princess owned a local caravan site in Gisburn and stored all of his steam engines in a large building on the site.

Sadly Tom died in December 1990 and the collection was broken up and as previously mentioned on this thread the Pendle Princess found it's way to Japan and is now on display in the Bandai museum.

Let's hope they decide to re-issue this kit as it does make a lovely model.
