A late kick off today but I finally struck a bat with the mast. I'll use more pictures with this as an example of throwing bits together.
Whenever two identical parts are needed I use the master to produce the second and then file them to be an exact match

So that is the base done

So I now find that the drawing shows no plan views of the mast platforms so my only option is to use the outsize measurements and then look for photos

I expect it will be like this with rounded corners. Two water cannons go on the rear of this level

To add a bit of flavour

Thank you both that is inspiring  8)
Not even started yet today, just back from car MOT and top up shop at ALDI.

Some people are commenting on the green and is it right? Firstly this is nothing like a Stevn's arctic so the comparison is invalid.
Secondly this is on grey primer and it will be darker on red primer.
Thirdly my camera phone makes it appear lighter than to naked eye

Finally I like it  :-)

Although it may look like progress is fast? so far this is mainly the bones. The devil is in the detail and there is potentially months of that to come

The mast is very difficult to establish in detail so it is slow work.
This platform added today is not on the drawings but clearly necessary for access to the radar ,nav light and spot lights.

My first ever solder whilst in contact with styrene.

This has now dispelled my perceived fear of an issue with this so I'm not concerned when it comes to the many railings

EDIT I just modified safety rail height

State of play last night

So this morning I was inspired to continue with brass.
Using my tried an trusted methods. I use my iron set to 480 degrees for all my soldering and control the process by the duration of contact.

Lucky for me the whole assembly is a matt black paint job  {-)

Hello Andy,
I like Stan think the same you cant make such a wonderful well made model and not put lights on it  not you don't have skills.

Thank you Hama.

Is it Panto season already Stan?  O no I mustn't  %%

EDIT no Howard, lights do nothing for me at all and there are over 40 on that vessel so forget it. Not worth the effort

Taranis,

so lights are out, but what about working winches or cranes or anchors?

My build will evolve over time.
I bought these life raft canisters from battlecrafts. Perfect size for this  O0
I already had a pair but could not remember where from %%   but found them on eBay and just arrived today.

Warning about the green paint! be careful to check whether you want gloss or satin whatever colour you might choose. Instead of using the "buy another" tab on Amazon I used the search to get another tin but did not spot that it was satin Doh!
