Whist waiting for paint to dry I turned my attention to the internal stairs to the wheelhouse

First go at a Nav light using the acrylic tube purchased way back in the thread.
May have to paint a black line mid height or use black pin stripe lining tape.

Various bits of progress and I'm focusing on window frames just now.
Lots more pictures in the gallery.

Thanks to a Facebook contact I now know the make of the Davit. A clear image of the name has always eluded me.

Window frame production in progress. I don't think there is an easy way to do this it's just time consuming.
11 of 36 completed. Many more pictures in the gallery.

I'm waiting for another delivery from CMB now as I ran out of 0.5x2.5mm styrene strip.
I made the handrail for around the wheelhouse and some more window frame templates.
The first floor cabin is now ready for gloss white if it ever stops raining.
I also fitted too many window wiper boxes so the side ones are now discarded.

This is picture number 1,625 in the gallery

Whilst I feel I am on the correct course for producing the window frames it also gives the opportunity to fine tune the original openings

How do you fit these window frames.? Could you post a few more detailed pics please.
Thanks Andy.

Do my best  :-))

In consultation with the pictures in the gallery (start at picture 1611)I first make a template 1mm smaller than the opening, then wrap 0.5mm styrene around it to get the exact length required. Glue the ends together and when secure fit the frame in the opening along with the template to keep it tight to the outside edges.
Some adjustment with files and sandpaper may be required.
It helps to place a bigger piece of styrene on the inside to ensure the frame is flush internally.
Whilst in position draw some plastic solvent cement around the edge with a fine application brush which will seep into the joint.
The adhesive (delux materials) is also in the pictures

The same templates will assist with making the glazing too. I plan to use 1.5mm acrylic for the windows that will fit IN the frames not oversized thin stuff glued across the back.

No and very sad but no more probably due to ingredients no longer permitted.
Model Shop Leeds no longer stock it in the new guise as customers report it is crap
Not sure if you're still interested in an alternative to the good old Squadron filler or had it sorted since, but I'm using "MR HOBBY Mr. White Putty" recently with great success and recommendation (no direct replacement but quite workable).  Thought it might be worth mentioning.

Thanks Rich

Me too  :-))   I agree it's not a replacement but better than the new Squadron rubbish.

Scratching around a bit today while still awaiting a delivery.
I made more templates for the windows, only a few left to do now.
I've begun fitting pillars between the windows inside.
Dismantled the wheelhouse roof to make work easier, hopefully the next reassemble will be the last.
Might start on the furniture this week.

Trial fit of the combined fendering. I'm quite satisfied with the look and the effectiveness. Orion's mouldings are so strong I think this could demolish anything afloat  %%

The centre pipe is also fitted for the transporter ready for the detachable handle that will be shared between this and the Portgarth cart. Located with an R clip when needed.

My delivery arrived from CMB  :-))  However I started work on the stand/transport cart. This involves 2 coats of finishing resin then painting then rubber strips for the contact surfaces (ebay delivery Wednesday)
So no construction for a couple of days and I've had to borrow the wife's craft room chair as Brutus is sitting on mine  {-)
Pictures later.... much later  {-)

The cart will be submersible for launching at Carnaby as they have a ramp  O0

Hi Andy, I have been watching this great build.
Just a thought about your Trolley, you say you will launch it down a ramp ( into the water? ) if so wont those wheels make it very buoyant and difficult for the Tug to sail off of it. and to get back on it after sailing.

Kind Regards,

Len.

They are solid foam tyres Len (no air) however they would have no effect on 34kg even with inner tubes. That's 75lb in old money.
The cart in this mode would launch stern first and should be easy to hold down with the handle alone.

Thank you both for your comments  :-))

I hope you will show us what you come up with Tassie  :-)

Let down by Royal Mail today so no progress on the stand.
These stern bollard deflector guard rails bugged me from the start so I altered them. They now locate with the gunwale as they should. I first reinforced before fitting a locating stud.

No problem it's only obvious to those following in recent weeks.

For anyone else, where you find text in red it is a link to what is relevant at the time.

So the bollard guards prevent a slack towline getting fouled on them.

Now these additional fittings prevent the towline fouling the superstructure and other deck fittings, effectively limit stops for extreme manoeuvres.
