Hi all

Has anyone else had problems with CMB?

I placed a large order with them and waited more than a week for confirmation of delivery. When I eventually managed to contact them, their website contact form didn't work properly so I had to send them an email direct, they neglected to tell me that one item was out of stock and waited for it to come in before delivering, as a member of their club the info says that if an item is out of stock they'll send what they have and send on the other item/s when they come in. When the order did finally arrive they were 2 sheets of 1.5mm short.

So my experience of them is not that clever at the moment.

Regards

Dave

This has happened for me more often with them over the last 12 months.  I try to remember to add a note on the order just to send what's in stock.

I don't find "contact forms" of any use on any website. But I think they must list an email-theyve responded to me before when I've had to work out why an order hasn't been shipped.

I've also had a few bits short, or not right over the last year also, but I've kept them for future use.

...still find them a good source though.

I have done OK apart from taking forever to get missing parts for very expensive raboesch prop shafts. Rather than take a part from another stock item to complete my order they relied on the importer to supply it. This is very poor IMHO.
Other than that I am a member too and I find I need to log in to see my order progress. I no longer get emails but I expect they are too busy.
Postage is only £2.83 but I'd rather pay more and get it fast instead of a week or more later.  %%

Pick up the phone and call them - I've found CMB to be so helpful  :-))   Just leave your number and they will call you back.  From what I understand they are extremely busy due to everyone being stuck in their homes.  Go on give them a call  O0

Never had an issue with CMB and remember they are one of the last real bastions for a wide variety of modelling material and equipment in the UK.

They are undoubtedly the best supplier of the widest range of kits and boat fittings  :-))

I've never had a problem either, and I have the stuff sent to Spain. Quick delivery, fast helpfull responses to a query and never a missing or wrong item. I always check that something is in stock on the webpage before I order, and oos items I leave for my next order.

I have the highest regard for them , very fast response.  They do have quite a lot of their items out of stock at the moment but that is doubtless due to the current pandemonium.

The thing that we all need to bare in mind is the fact that during the corona pandemic CMB have continued to supply modellers whist the majority of other businesses have been closed, coupled to the fact that our local model shop is becoming a rarity so we now depend on the likes of CMB, Howes and SHG to name a few.

Also remember that they will most likely be operating with minimal staff and ensuring their workplace is covid secure to service our hunger for building boats.

Its been a turbulent time for the modelling world with the loss of some of the suppliers we thought would be around forever so its vital that we remain patient with the current pool of suppliers that we have left.

CMB definitely under staffed. My order on the 10th was doing nothing until I emailed to ask what was happening? then to be told parts were discontinued but sending the rest tomorrow. Nothing in the post today 19th. How anybody can say they got delivery next day is beyond me. %%
Model shop Leeds charge more on postage but you do get it fast.

My apologies if some don't like my experience but I only deal in facts and it takes as long as it takes.

Meanwhile my new find of someone who supplies brass flat bar despatched same day Royal Mail first class on Wednesday and on Saturday still no show  {-)

Andy I must admit I'm using modelshopleeds more at the moment because of delivery as you point out (but not without issues themselves), but not to knock cornwallmodelboats please.  They are by far NOT the worst supplier out there.

However - due to a global pandemic global companies such as Jaguar Landrover and Honda cannot supply cars worth £££££££ to their customers due to European supply and staff issues who cannot attend work due to being ill.

Yet modellers expect next day or fast delivery for a £30 order

Its time for understanding  :-))

I'm sorry Andy but if that were true you would not have posted criticising them.  You say they are understaffed and that their next day delivery is beyond you?

So if you're not bothered when your delivery arrives why post this way about CMB?  Surely you would have just waited?  I think we really need to support companies such as CMB as there are so few left in the UK.

Normally a few days is to be expected. This is no longer the norm so expect longer and you won’t be disappointed

Hate to say but since the start of the pandemic in terms of delivery my mail has speeded up by an amazing amount!  I had a laptop dispatched from my office in Paris at the height of it and it came literally in about 18rs from pick-up to drop-off.  DPD have delivered in about 18h from dispatch instead of 3+ day service (they seem not to smash everything to pieces now either).  My Royal Mail is also coming super fast now.  I live in a "bad" postcode -apparently Inverness is an "island".  Everything speeded up, apart from HMRC letters for my business which take ages and cut-off dates usually always expired by a factor of weeks before I get them!  All credit to the couriers and Royal Mail!!  Boo-Hoo to HMRC which are bordering on close to usual appawlig service from DWP now -not good!

DVLA have always been quite good for me apart from the daft rule you can't change VED / change ownership after 19:00hrs -never understood that one seeing as they push you to do it on-line these days.  I got caught out with that one a couple of times.
