Still roaming the site and not sure where to post these 2 comments/experiences, but if they make you smile then job done.
I lived years ago in a coastal holiday town and sailed my model boats in a tidal lagoon mainly, but the harbour on a good tide was very busy with people promenading as they do.
I thought of obtaining a plastic decoy duck and mitorising it and RC.
I thought of making the ducks head rotatable, fix up a car windscreen washer pump to "spray" unsuspecting onlookers with sea water 😊.
When I made the large Vic Smeed sea rider 1 1/2 scale Leander frigate lookalike, I placed it in the bath to ballast it up.
I thought might it be good to have a depth charge function. At the time cheap devices were freely available around Nov 5th, ideal.
I could use a glow plug to light the fuse and arrange for the depth charge to roll off the stern, sink and explode.
So, I lit one and dropped it in the half full bath, watched it fizz and move around on the surface and then explode. It left a black stain on the bathroom ceiling.
Next step, I wrapped a but of lead around the device, lit the fuse and dropped it in the water.
Sitting on the cast iron bath bottom it fizzed away.
Then I thought SUGAR, what happens if it cracks the bath !!!!!
BANG !!!!
It exploded and produced a realistic and quite spectacular upthrust if water and smoke similar to those seen in war films.
Thankfully it didn't crack the bath, phew !
Then the devices, bangers, were banned.
Thunder flash ?
No no no !
A thunder flash would probably sink the sea rider.
