Displacement Lubricator for TVR1A Engine
« on: February 14, 2009, 10:18:45 pm »

Hi
Can someone recommend a supplier for a good quality displacement lubricator that's suitable for the Graham TVR1A engine.

I understand that the small hole size inside the device is important, so that the right amount of oil is delivered.

Monarch......this is a link to Paddleducks & to a Winfried Niggle WEB site......he manufactures beautiful glass tubed steam lubricators...the beauty is you can see both the steam condensate & steam oil levels....& never fear of running out of oil...his latest versions even have a blow down needle valve in the base :-))...Derek

I have the ...following [400-110] version & @ EURO 28 is great value........only issue was the registered post from Germany to Australia was nearly as expensive...Winfired is also a great person to communicate &  deal with

Look under Oler.....his 410-111 is the pick of the bunch....NO not a paid advertisement....am not related to the manufacturer...just a very happy customer     {-)

In PD's...we term the Company as......A German manufacturer of quality steam fittings & accessories for model steam projects

Monarch,

Be rather careful with your choice.

If you haven't got threading or machining equipment, you might find yourself struggling to get one to fit correctly or easily, unless you fit it into the pressure line itself. In which case, make sure you get the fittings to fit your pipe size.

US threads will most probably be a UNF or UNC thread or tapered derivative of either, UK will almost certainly be ME threads, and mainland European will be metric.

The hole size isn't too critical as long as there is lube going into the engine. A lot of people actually over lube the engine unnecessarily, and all it does is cover the engine in oil, and fills up the condenser much too quickly with unused oil.

I would also recommend an adjustable oiler with valve. I have the Niggel oilers too, which Derek suggested, and they are very good. Besides, they come with fittings that fit the Graham engine (4mm pipe).

Gents..... the basis of my recommendation of........ '410-111' is the pick of the bunch  is that it is a fixed orifice.....kno3 & bogstandard most correctly question the actual function.....ie.,  of the ratio of steam oil to steam passage........ <:( <:(....steam oil is not cheap.......my JMC3H is also not without cost.....so I am happy with my fixed flow of the 400-100 "OLIER"  O0....Derek

Send him an E-Mail in English with your request, using the form at this link:
http://www.modellbau-niggel.de/Kontakt-e150.html

And, by the way, I wouldn't get the 400 110 if I were you, but one of those with a valve, like 400 112 & 400 113:
