fixing of gears

Has anybody got any idea's how to fasten plastic gears to a smooth motor shaft as mine come off when the shaft gets hot.

Hi mikgo,

You could try drilling through the meat of the gear shaft bush then slip it into position on your drive shaft, next mark the hole position and drill through the metal shaft.

You can then slide a brass pin through bothe holes and either pein the ends to stop it working loose or just bend each end over.

Use a rollpin find one that's a tight fit on the motor shaft then drill your gear out so the rollpin is a tight fit then push it onto the motor shaft this would expand the rollpin in the gear and make it a tight fit on the shaft. If you look at me build of a model outboard you will see I used one to connect the shaft to the motor.
