Hi guys and gals, I dont know if I have posted this in the right section.
I am trying to build a bait boat for my dad and his carp fishing. He cant cast very well as his hands aren't what they used to be after 40 years in the steel trade, even though I know using one is cheating slightly.
I am trying to keep the costs down as he got made redundant last year and is struggling to find a job as nobody wants to employ a 63 year old. I have managed to get 2 motors which seem to be low speed rpm but high tourqe.
http://en.unitemotor.com/ProductView_34.htmland have a 3 channel radio set (transmitter, reciever and servo) and 2 12v large batteries, I should be ok fibreglassing a body for the boat as I do a fair bit of fibreglassing at my work as a car body repairer and spray painter.
The problem I am having is the electronics side of it and how to get the boat to steer, I thought about using a mixer but the one I have found is quite expensive but ticks all the boxes. Its the action electrics p94 but is 80 quid ish. Would there be a cheaper alternative? or would i be better off using 2 rudders behind the motors?
The boat doesnt have to be fast at all but may have to carry quite a bit of bait 1.5kg ish of bait depending on the situation.
The finished article I am hoping will be something like this
