Bradford, Harold Park

Does anyone sail on Harold Park lake?
It looks like there is a RC yacht in one of the pictures of activities on a display board there but also it is listed in a 'gofish' website.
If I'm ever up this way again it would be nice to bring a boat, if it's not raining and dark. No signs to prohibit either activity but a few wildfoul around to bring on the don't sisturb the ducks whingers. This evening would have been great with good warm breeze.

BTW it is on the lakes site, http://www.mes-marine.co.uk/mt/models/westyorkshire.htm as a possible venue.
Oh and although shallow in places it is also 16ft in places.

That's very close to me, but never been, (I goto Kirkless Model Boat Club), might go down and give it a look over and put one of my fast electric boats on for a run...

As the author of that piece, although I have been known to reply with humour at times, everything written is straight up, NO jests. If it sinks, it's GONE and if you have a look on one of the Sat. sites, you can see how big it is.

One of the problems was dumping a boat in the water as the water level was about 15 -18 inches below the top of a wide stone block topping which extends round vitually all of the perimeter. Walking round recently, if you enter from the directions I've given, when you get to the lake side, look across to the right of the Island and there is a concreted area that used to be staging point for hire rowing boats and was all those years ago fenced off, is now fully open and would be ideal as a launching jetty.

Be warned, it's deep AND cold.

So if I do take a boat up there and get stuck on a lee shore on the island I now know a few locals with rescue boats......

If you do get back up Bee, Gizza shout, I'll bring you a towel, and yes, it did happen, free running Seaplane Tender, 1960, hit a submerged rock three feet from island and flew 10 feet onto it. 7pm, summer night, Boatkeeper Loooooooooooooong gone home. On Island side of Lake, only about 20Ft from shore to island and about three feet deep, but >>:-( COLD :-))  %)
