Hi all

This may sound a stupid question but on a 1.16th scale lifeboat would you use 1.16th scale figures or do you use a different scale? if so, which ones

Yes use 1:16 figures

George Turner does them too if you don't want to pay Speedline prices. GT does lots of different figures in different scales. He'll probably be at the Warwick show next month. Dave.

It's sometimes handy to buy just one and pose it on your boat to see if it looks right, I bought a 1/16 man for a boat some time ago and it looked stupid on the boat I re checked the size of hatch openings and well deck sizes with the builders plans and the chap would have no chance of getting in any of the openings and when he stood on the rear well deck looked silly , but another make looked right so check first with one.

If that is for me,  er wrong on both points. it is not an areokits it is scratch built on a fiberglass hull and the scale is correct at 1/16 for the boat I built as I said I worked from the original shipyard drawrings to build the boat.
NOT model kit drawrings.

Unlike boats, human beings aren't built to a plan, so there's a lot of variance in the height and width of 'scale' figures.  There's also no standardized way to measure the height of a figure; some go by the eyes, some the top of the head.

it would be a shame to paint that boat HS93, the planking and brass work on the tow hook are superb
