Hi Folks
I hope you can help me out with some advice or just opinions.
I'm about to build a 1935 Art Deco Ferry 'The Kalakala' and I have the start / prep for a build log over on RCMB
http://rcmb.forumotion.com/t37-kalakala-art-deco-ferry . Things are going well over there except for identifying the type of lifeboat (just a detail I want to get right). I have even posted on West Coast Ferries Forum – I was really hoping it was a standard type on Puget Sound but I got this reply
'Talked to Bill Bailey, who was deck hand when Kalakala was both in Seattle and Port Angles.
He said Life boats were larger than the Steel Electrics. They had eight oarsman and one was the Steering Oarman. Note there were two boats. The Oars were kept in the boats. The first mate was incharge of getting the boats ready.'I just want to get enough info for plans (build starts January), I'll add what photos I have but whether it's enough I'll leave up to you guys - click on them to enlarge.
Regards Norseman
