My local water was frozen solid, so I took a trip to Fleetwood, and I was pleasantly surprised I thought the Tug handles really well and the battery time was superb
Firstly I tried her on full power but this was far to fast and creating to much waves, the I sailed her at scale speed for a full 45 mins and no hint of the battery slowing down, I called it a day then very content with myself, id just like to ask you guys a technical question, I was using a 12 volt 7amph battery, when fully charged it was showing 13.60 after the 45 mins it was showing 12.65 can anything be gleened from this info, id just like to say thank you for the advice you guys gave me and the patience you showed cheers…Ray
A few pics here

Is it a new battery?
Fully charged it should show around 14.25V
I use ex fire alarm back up batteries which have to be changed periodically
and when charged show around 13.5V I can live with that as the batteries
are free.
You will be ok at scale speeds then getting an hour plus from a fully charged set
You should be a happy tug skipper today Ray

Will it be the same size physically?
i.e will it fit in the same place in the tug?

Hi Ray

We were talking about corrosion on another thread and Fleetwood is salt water
so maybe a wash down etc is called for? But maybe already knew that ......

your boat looks great, and has plenty of pulling power, don't worry about big amp batteries you will get fed up before the battery does,
ER salt water is OK  yer right just make shore you wash the boat in fresh water and keep an eye on brass parts , I am not a fan myself because my boats tend to have all brass fittings  but if you take simple precautions you should be OK.

Peter

wait for the salt water is OK brigade  {-)

All i can say about salt water corrosion is that i brought a boat which had been used in salt water. The five bladed prop looked corroded. On closer examination it was possible t pull the blades out of  the centre hub. The soider had failed. John.
