Check out the Mamod or any of the steam sites. They will sell steam cylinder oil,and may point to the sort of gas you need. Try "model steam gas burner" or something like that on google.

Is the onboard tank a commercial gas cylinder from a small camping stove or is it a copper cylinder similar to the boiler but smaller? If it is the second you will need to buy camping gas cylinders which contain Propane and Butane mixed and you will need an adaptor that screws on to the cylinder and adapts it to your onboard tank. Go to http://www.maccsteam.com/Gas_tanks/Gas_tanks.html and see if your tank looks like one of those. If so you will need a filling adaptor such as http://www.forest-classics.co.uk/bix%20019.htm which screws on the camping cylinder and presses down on the valve in your tank. Check these out and then come back to us for instructions on filling the tank which should be done with it removed from the boat. Cheers, Ian.

Do you have a photo you could post here? Another steam accessory supplier in your area is Clevedon Steam http://www.clevedonsteam.co.uk and very helpful they are too. I use Go-System 2350 butane/propane mix, it is widely available from B+Q and good hardware shops and is sold for small blowtorches, the adapter from Forest Classics screws directly on to the canister.
