1/16th figures
« on: May 22, 2007, 01:18:39 pm »

As some of you know, I'm building a Victorian-era 2nd class Torpedo boat (http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3727.0) at the moment.  I want to put some crew on it, but there aren't many RN sailors available in 1/16th  ::), and those that do exist are a bit 'dolls housy' for my liking.  So I'm converting some Tamiya figures to suit.  I'm going to mould them in resin once the conversions are done so I can make as many as I like, and, at the risk of sounding big-headed, these should be very good quality.

I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in them?  I'd only be looking at a few quid to cover materials (a 1/16th figure is around 5" high - quite a bit of resin!), but nothing silly.  It may be a month or two before anything is ready, and I'll post pics as soon as there is something to see but like I said, would anyone be interested?

There will be a copyright issue if you copy from a Tamiya figure, all be it modified.

Up to you, but I thought I would mention it.

I have had a similar problem trying to find 1:10th figures so I made them from polymer clay. You may find yourself in hot water in terms of copyright by using the Tamya figures if you intend to resale. All the best with the project.

Copyright, AFAIK, doesn't apply if the original is modified more than 25% to create the new version.  Considering I'm starting with a WW2 German infantryman figure, it's gonna be different ;D.  Maybe I shouldn't say 'selling'; maybe I should say 'asking for a contribution towards the materials used'.  ::)
