Mollie is the sign I have, however, I have seen different pictures and info that suggest it is Molly!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/snorkerboy/5010824019/sizes/o/in/photostream/  photo was taken 19/9/2010  "Mollie"

I'd go with the later photo as proof of correct spelling. Contacting the lifeboat station is probably your best bet though.

thanks mick, can you see the dilemma now? Saying that, not so much a dilemma but a very good question, which is which as there cannot be two!

I am going to look at the pictures I took when I was there last aug on the rnli tour but as she is not slipway based I may not be able to zoom in far enough.

Any info you get would be great.

Ryan,
Just been in touch with Martin the Coxn at Appledore. She came into port as Molly. One of the family pointed this out to the RNLI,as they had certainly not done their homework. She was then changed to the correct spelling of "Mollie" before the christening ceremony. So there you have it,hope it helps matey?
cheers,
Mick

there's always the point that if you did name her Molly Hunt instead of Mollie Hunt......she would be very rare indeed in a time equation.............as in one instant of time the name on the model would be correct as of the real boat (even though the name was indeed wrong)........more food for thought %% %% %% %%

The thought crossed my mind for a second but I just had to know the answer given 2 photographs evidencing the fact I was not going nuts! As it turns out the graphics set I have has it spelt as Mollie!
