Another new Tamar!
« on: June 09, 2013, 11:19:21 pm »

I hope you can see the pictures of my Model Slipway Tamar. This is my first build and at times has been hard work. Many mistakes have been made and rectified time and time again. I'm sure I've developed OCD whilst making it. I have made a few modifications to the model which hopefully can be seen. Firstly, I  constructed a hockey-stick keel and fitted plates on the transom supporting the skegs. The transom has been cut out but is fixed in place. A crane has been fitted to the pulpit rail. Intercom speakers have been made just under the front windscreen frames. The wheelhouse has been fitted out and all seats have arms, padded seats and where fitted for real, have joystick controls. All seats are also fitted with turquoise "Sabelt" harnesses. All VDUs are illuminated and display various data screens. ( courtesy of a generous MBM contributor.) It has been named  16-07 Lester, which is stationed at Cromer. Seeing this pristine boat in its home inspired me to build this model. Many thanks must go to all the MBM members who have helped and advised me, You are too numerous to mention but you'll know who you are. Thanks too to Model Slipway who answered my initial call for help in November 2012 before a single hole had even been made in the hull. The maiden voyage and sea trials were held at Bridlington last week and all was fine until a battery failure left her stranded in the pond. Thanks for the rescue and the welcome. I'll be better next time. I'll try to upload some more pictures later.

The second picture shows the trim tabs which have been made manually adjustable by constructing them with clevis pins, extention screws and brass tubing.

I agree with Neil; it's looking good.  I'm quite a lot further behind with my build of the Tamar, hopefully she'll be finished this year!

I always thought the Mersey to be a lot more workmanlike
The great models on here of the Tamar are beginning
to sway me towards a build.
Great work Cabman :-))
