Evergreen styrene do a hexagonal strip that's perfect for that, also K&S did a brass version but not sure if its still available.
What size are you doing your Star Perseus? I have a bit of a soft spot for her :-))

I bought 148 nut 1mm to put on a boat.
I sold my shirt to buy nuts.
Once painted you can not see anything ................... {:-{
The faces of the nuts are very small, too small.
Keep your shirt and put the stems as Mermod :-))

Mermod !beautiful crane! it work?

There is a company called Kit Form Services who can supply a set of photo etched nuts and bolt heads.  They come in a variety of sizes from 0.8 to 2.0 mm AF.  They have a UK website where you can get full details.  There is also a Chinese company called Lion Roar who make all sorts of photo etched bits and pieces for super detailing models and they also do photo etched nuts and bolts.  They are available through various modelling suppliers on the web.

I have a couple of etch sheets left over from an abandoned model I was building (1/35 scale model loco that made a suicide dive from the top shelf)
I think there are some nuts on it.
Roughly what size you need

Yes Gazou the crane works, small pneumatic ram, rock crawler winch (see the wire not connected) and a high torque servo below deck through a belt system for the swivel.

Hello Mermod
you have a pneumatic cylinder.
the progressive movement? Or brutal? How did you do?
Do you have a photo of the boat?
Do you have a video of the crane?

Many questions! %)

Hi Gazou, I have a small industrial air pump with an on or off switch, the movement was quite brutal but I now have a small regulator tap to cut the pressure back (hard to photograph right under the deck), the arm only stays up if the power is on and drops pretty quickly when I cut the switch. I use a Futaba 9cap with rotary dial for rotating the whole assembly and the winch came with a fwd and back control that plugs into any channel on the radio.
Hope this isn't seen as hijacking the original post :embarrassed:
