Each Truck does have a matched set of it's own bearings.

The extra ones you have would work in the axles Ok if there are any missing.

Thanks Ian/Ken, but I'm doing nothing until I have the box opened on my build desk tomorrow...I have this horrible feeling that fate hasn't quite finished with me yet. When the kit is sat on my bench and I've opened the box, then I can be sure of what truck I actually have.

And what's in the box? Well, not what I expected...not a Merc...not a Scania...but a Volvo. My original order has sort of resurfaced somehow...but not to worry, I'm pleased.

That has made me laugh, so are we now back to the race idea?  {-) {-) {-) {-)

I bet you can't wait to get in that box and started.
It does seem Wonderland models have the right name, you pays your money then sit back and wonder what's coming  :-)

I did open the box briefly...thought ''oh my gawd, there's a lot of stuff in there'', and shut the box again! Once the medication has kicked in, I'll open it again and see what's what in there.

I think I may build it as it is supposed to be, maybe look for an aftermarket race cab later when I've got the hang of driving it. It's quite a thing, I was surprised at what you get in the box.

I do fancy this though...see pic. It would bring back memories...  <:(

looks like its a sweeper build then rich ? leave off the airfoil on the cab roof and those from the cad sides , theres the cab sorted , omit the chassis skirts and brackets , along with the fifth wheel , and your almost there ! ive a 7 3/4 inch long peice of 6" diameter stainless steel tube here which would make the tank ?  jon

I think the chassis would be too short for a sweeper, Jon... <:(

Extend the chassis rails? Buy a pair of longer chassis rails? or if all else fails.......

Buy my 6x4 off me and you have an instant longer chassis, just swap the cabs over  :P

Have we talked you into it yet?

Morning Ian...

One of the guys on the Tamiya Facebook page has sort of taken me under his wing, so to speak...I've been posting pics on there, and he's been checking on what I've done every step of the way. So far, only one minor hiccup...I'd put two nuts on a chassis crossmember the wrong way round. Apart from that...all is good, and I'm enjoying every second of building this.

Here we go then...pics of the progress so far:

Looking good Rich.

Little tip for you.  Leave the rear mudguards until as late as possible because it's possible to break the mounting brackets during the construction process.  Ask me how I know.   %)

When you get to the gearbox construction, the drawings for the gear train are reversed and will cause confusion.  There are three sketches and the middle one shows the gear train viewed from the other side.  (flipped over, as it were)

Cheers
for now

Ken

Thanks for the tips, Ken...I'll bear that in mind, the last thing I want to do is to break anything. I'll not dare ask how you discovered that...

Tea break over..back to page seven.

are you painting the chassis before you fit mudgaurds and cab ?  i built up mine as a rolling chassis and then sprayed it without the wheels fitted , so at least the servos blend into the rest of the chassis etc !

I'm tempted to get one myself now. I quite like the King Hauler but I know I can't really justify the expense

Fair enough, I thought I'd said something wrong. I'm enjoying every second of building mine, even now looking at an aftermarket cab so as I can have a standard version and a race version both sharing the same chassis.

As Ken said earlier...they do get addictive.
