Rich any things possible, but agree with Ken, I think the motor would be to much.
It would go off like a rocket once and IF you could get some grip at those rear wheels. and then I think it could become uncontrollable, and would end up on it's roof at the first bend? (well it would if it was me at the controls  {-) )

So when are you likely to see this nice new Merc on your doorstep then?

Looking at that one on Gumtree again as Ken said it doesn't say Tamiya, but when you make the second pic larger the workings do look like a Tamiya one? perhaps give the guy a call and ask?

Ian...I'd like to think it would be here today, fingers crossed. Apparently Tamiya cocked up with their order, and me changing my order from the Volvo to the Merc didn't help either. I'm waiting on a phone call later this morning...

Kurt...it's addictive, this truck business. I've spent a months worth of pension and I haven't even got mine yet!

Well...there's good news and there's bad news. Just had the phone call...no signs of the Merc 1838, and no restock dates from Tamiya in the near future.   >>:-(

That's the bad news...the good news is: I will have the Scania R620 6x4 Highline on my build desk by 1200hrs tomorrow. And at the same price as the Merc, so I can't really complain at that.   ;)

Obviously, plan A (the race truck) is on hold for sometime, so it's a case of thinking what to build the Scania as...a low loader maybe? All flashing lights and beacons, with an oversize load on? Or maybe an Army version with a tank on the trailer? The choices are endless, I guess...

The drawing board beckons...

I did the same and built my own too, I wasn't going to pay that for the Carson one, well to be honest I don't think I'd get away with it from the other half.
Mine didn't quite turn out as good looking as yours though Ken.

so you've gone from Volvo to Merc to Scania and you've not even seen one in the flesh yet  {-) {-)
That's the same as the one I have, you will need to do the steering mod on her as being 6x4 the turning circle is a bit on the wide side.

If you was to go for a low loader I have one of these here....

That would look good on the back......

Yep, at first I was somewhat miffed, then realised that I was getting a good deal, so I took it. I still have the Merc on order, as and when it comes, could be ages I'm told.

Now I've got to order another set of bearings...grr.  <:(

I'm thinking of having this one sprayed in Pickfords colours, I had twelve years with them, including a spell on Heavy Haulage, so that's an option. I also have a 1/15th scale X craft sub...that would make a nice load, I think.  %)

Just had a letter from Customs and Excise.  Mines in the country.

If I care to pay them import duty of £22 they will send it to me via Parcelfarce.

Hey Ho, when will the expenses ever end.    %)

I guess that's always the risk when ordering from over sea's, as long as it still works out a bit cheaper then it's not to bad.

Rich before you go ordering another set of bearings I have 4 new ones here you can have, I think you only need a couple extra from your set because of the third axle?

Perhaps Ken can confirm this?
