Roses Regatta at Balne Moor
« on: August 03, 2015, 04:39:38 pm »

On Sunday 16 August Balne Moor MBC will hold the Roses Regatta.

Not really the war of the roses, but can the red rose of Lancashire beat the white one of Yorkshire on home water?

There will be scale sailing and tug towing.

There will be no entry fee.

Hot sandwiches available until 13.00.  Tea, coffee, other drinks and cakes available all day.

Why not come along and join in the fun.

As ever sat nav DN14 0ER

Hello everyone,
My pal Jim and I attended the Roses regatta at Balne moor on sunday and I can honestly say it was the best boating day/event I have been to this year (shows included). We were met with a warm welcome by everyone there also the weather was very kind to us. Neither Jim or myself had ever entered a competition of scale sailing or tug towing in pairs but we decided to have a go, talk about wake up call mmm! it made us both realise what we are missing. Everybody was so helpful John,Eric,Paul Aid and Steve to mention a few, in the pairs towing I was teamed up with Steve and helped a great deal by his and John's instructions. You just do not realise how difficult it is to manoeuvre a big heavy tow.
Thankfully neither Jim or myself damaged anything on the pond (how I'm not sure) although Jim had a good try at knocking the oil rig over with Aid's Portgarth. All in all an excellent day with very friendly people great bacon & egg butties and coffee (thanks girl's much appreciated). We will definitely be visiting again.
Thanks again John & Aid & Steve, see you all soon.
         Kind regards,
              "Faz" Peter.H.Farrell. Southport MBC.  :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

This was sent to me form FAZ a member of Southport m.b.c.

Hi John,

Firstly can I thank you so much from Jim and myself for an absolutely fantastic day! neither of us had been near anything large to tow or entered a steering competition ever so to say we really enjoyed the whole day does not really do it just, it was great and we both plan to come and visit on a regular basis. I have burned the photos from the day to a disc (all 200) and if you would like me to send you a copy no probs just email me your address.

Thanks again, look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting.

                 Kind regards,

                      Peter "Faz". Farrell.
