Aeronaut Diva query
« on: May 02, 2017, 05:57:42 pm »

i am having a problem deciphering the English written printed, and the German instruction manual re the Aeronaut Diva. There are discrepancies between the two. I just wondered if someone who has built this boat would kindly post, or send a photo of the two pieces that separate so as to allow access to below, for battery changes etc. I cannot see, for the life of me what glues to what, and what doesn't.

I know that already I'm going to have to conduct some remedial surgery, but I'd love to know I've got it right first. I've glued the cabin to the lower hull. Realise this is a big mistake.Just hoping with the correct knowledge I won't have to bin the model, and I will be able to save it somehow.

Hope somebody can help, thanks.

Sorry I've not explained things well.

The boat must come in two parts. Something must lift off the complete model. That is to say it acts as a hatch, giving access to the working innards, and of course to facilitate battery exchanges.
I'm not certain what the lift off assembly consists of. So I was hoping to see a photo showing this removed section, and hopefully what is left of the hull assembly. Then I can get my tools and correct my mistake in the correct places.
Hope this helps explain the problem.

Hi Glyn,  I have started to build this kit but, I'm making very slow progress. I cannot provide any photos to help you yet as I am nowhere near that stage of the build. However,  before I started my build, I did a lot of reading up and studying of photos on the tinterweb.
The boat should be built in three separate sections. One being the hull with the deck attached. One consisting of the cabin sides, both roof sections and door piece  (36) and one
Consisting of the floor with the two seats and table attached to it.
These three sections are built separately and remain separate even when the model is completed. This allows the top section of the model to be removed in two  complete pieces thus enabling access to nearly all of the inside of the hull.
The two long side pieces  (30) and the two pieces of combing  (33) and  (34) are used as a guide when building the cabin. The two cabin sides  (39) are clamped BUT NOT GLUED to the two side pieces  (30). The cabin door piece  (36) should only be glued to the two cabin sides  (39) . It only rests against frame piece  (5) as a positional guide BUT NOT GLUED TO IT. The two pieces  (45 ) are glued between the two side pieces  (39). Parts  (46) (47 ) and  (48) can then be glued in place . The floor section is built separately and then should just put in place BUT NOT GLUED.  I hope this makes some sort of sense and helps a bit.
Try searching the tinterweb for build logs of this model, there are a few out there and you tube can be helpfulas  well. If I find some photos I will attempt to post them for you to see.
All the best with your build
Ian

Hi Glyn again,
I should also have said that pieces  (40)  (41) (42) and ( 43) are assembled and glued seperately before being placed in position and glued to pieces  (39 ) only.  They will now be part of the cabin assembly which can be removed in one complete piece as mentioned in my previous post.

Well you good people have sorted me. most grateful to you. i reckon nearly all the pieces that should not have been glued together, i had managed to do! So I have spent several hours hacking away at my boat and have been fairly successful in managing to release everything without too much damage. ian, your written description of what part are glued together, and which are not were brilliant, as was the image of the parts.

Even now I know what sub assemblies there are, and how they are constructed, i do not think that the instructions are overly helpful to a beginner(me) in seeing this before its too late. Just one picture of the three parts separated from each other would have done the trick.

Anyway i am pressing on and making steady progress now. So thanks to all once again, and I hope I don't make a complete idiot of myself again, and have to plead again for more help!
Cheers, Glyn.
