The Lidls over here in Spain carry the same stocks as the UK mate. Sometimes a week earlier, sometimes a week later, but stuff in the glass 'valuables' cabinet seems to stay there and never get sold - unlike the UK :}

Certainly was not the intention to criticize the Parkside product.......and there must be a market for a similar product to the Proxxon 2" wheel sized grinder and so at 1/5 of the [Proxxon] cost must be considered... :-))

I also note the Parkside product has a 3 year [replacement] warranty O0 ....as compared to the 2 year warranty for the Proxxon product

Derek, Are Proxxon items considered to be decent quality in comparison with other imported machinery ?

Nordleys...

I only have the Proxxon FKSE table saw [80 diameter blade]........ it is of superb precise quality for cutting down to sub 1/8" planking.......however grossly expensive at   ....[~~$600AUD]

Our MBM colleague modeller Danielle from Switzerland swears by the Proxxon quality, conversely Neil currently constructing his Duke of Northumberland Lifeboat, is not overly impressed by the product

If the work rests on the Parkside mini bench grinder were stable [and adjustable] I would certainly prefer to spend 20 GBP  O0 rather than 100 GBP on a similar sized/powered product

A mate here in Wollongong purchased the Proxxon mini wood planner.....it also provides superbly accurate planking....but at ~~$500AUD, I question the need/use for hull planking when in most cases, final sanding is required

This chap has also purchased the Proxxon power belt sander electric file & the design/construction is 10 miles ahead of other small belt sanders

I have stated my view on proxxon  "toys"  tools....... I bought 5 different items ranging from a mini pencil sander to a bench circular saw when I was setting up my workshop some 22 years ago and had the money from a retirement pension, and so thought i'd go for the "best"...........NONE  of them lasted more than a year,  and in those days the warranty was just 1 year............sent two items back to a proxxon related repairer, and paid 60 quid for the repairs only to find when I needed to use them at a later date that the repairs had been fudged and not actually repaired........

I would never buy proxxon again...........there are far better tools on the market for a fraction of the price, that last a hell of a lot longer.................     Other opinions are available, lol.

Derek I have just purchased the Proxxon KS230 mini table saw for cutting thin ply planking for my upcoming build.
Yes, It was expensive GB£ 130 . It is a nice item, cuts very smoothly and will be a pleasure to use .
I like good equipment in my workshop where I can afford it once in a while.

Neil, I cant help feeling that you have been very unfortunate with the performance of all the Proxxon tools you have bought.
I hope mine prove to be a little better? Otherwise Axminster Tools will be hearing from me.

I have one of those grinders I bought last time around, its perfect for small sharpening jobs. last weekend when I went in they had full size bench grinders and smaller ones a little bigger than these, but with a flexible shaft drive as one accessory.

Sorry, but not my experience down here in Andalucía. No glass cabinets. Only Aldi have them.....I have checked up and coming offers from Lidl España and no sign of this item......that does not mean they won't have it though...

when I retired and got a lump sum I spent  nearly 7 K on power tools including a myford laithe n tools, Elektra bekum band saw, Clarke scroll saw and pillar drill, 1800 quid on a centrifugal caster and melting pot plus tools, from alex tiranti in Reading, electric carvers, jig saws etc, plus the proxxon tools.............  and that was in 1994..................and every single one of all the tools I bought, every single one, touch wood is still going strong and as well as the days I bought them............even my  dremel drills, minus one chuck key which [much to dereks murth ] I still can't find, are working well, except that is..........the "toys" from proxxon.
I bought a second hand dewalt 740 series bench saw for less than the proxxon mini saw...........and cuts anything from 3mm to 150mm thickness with the same accuracy and finish.

I bang on about proxxon because I don't want others to be as disappointed as I was, with their failure.

Hi all,

I don't really buy cheapo tools as they rarely stand up to the work for any length of time, mega cheap rechargeable drills being the classic. BUT! when in Lidl a year or so ago I spotted a small bench top 6 inch Parkside sanding disc machine for £29.95. In a moment of madness I splashed out and put one in the trolley.
That little disc sander has been brilliant, quiet, powerful, fully adjustable table, variable speed. The on/off switch stopped working last week, a new one from component shop was fitted in 5 minutes and still it goes on.
The grinder has the same pedigree and probably the same motor, so I'll be looking for one next week.

Not all cheapo tools are rubbish, now and again you can find a good one.

I have a few Proxxon gadgets. Their Pillar drill and Milling table and Micro cutting MIC, a sort of small circular saw, plus a couple of their mini drills....They are OK but not worth the prices they are asking most of the time.
