I assume by "Naval Ordinance" you mean with shipboard mounting.

In 1/96 Shapeways do both 4 & 5 barrel Nordenfeld's on ship mountings, plus probably the Armstrong too (what size bore?)

What are you building Glenn? It sounds intriguing going by the weapons you are after.

Hi. I’m building a Deans Marine Majestic and I’ve also just brought a Hms Bacchante Ironclad corvette.

By name and by nature Glenn! Nick Bates (raflaunches) has one on the go which might be worth a look at in the warships room. HMS Hannibal-Majestic Pre Dreadnought project on the third page in.

Bacchante also looks like an interesting warship and should give you many hour of fun what with rigging as well as newer steam related fittings. That is what you want the breech loaders for! I have a model of HMS Rupert slowly progressing (I wanted to complete another ship before pushing on) so it will be interesting to see how you do things given they being of a similar era.

Hi Glenn

It was fantastic to meet you at Mobile Marine last weekend and I certainly enjoyed our chat about Majestics!
I agree with Ian, Shapeways are a gold mine for hard to find fittings, they even do commission work.

So you were the lucky bidder on the Bacchante model. I was watching to see if it sold as I was interested if there were no bids but I’ve already got a Victorian era Ironclad (HMS Warrior 1860) in 1/72 scale. I think your new model is 1:48 scale if I got my calculations correct. You’ve got a beautiful model coming. If you haven’t collected it yet I’ll let you in to a little secret about the seller... just have a look around his living room and work room for his sign writing business... they are full of builders models or some very good quality models. I bought his SMS Komet from him in February and I was amazed at his collection.
I’ll have to restart my Prince George soon but it’ll probably be after I return from my next tour in the Med!

Hi all. Cheers for the heads up on the field guns. As indicated I had indeed brought the Hms Bacchante as a built model, got way too much on with projects to buy another kit. You’re very possibly right Nick as it is indeed larger than I thought, it may also possibly be built from a Billings Warrior kit but I’ve never seen one so it’s an educated guess as it looks too commercialised to be fully scratch built. I’ve brought from Trevor before and you’re right,he has an amazing collection including a Majestic however, it’s only a static but it was the impetus that compelled me to buy one from Deans as I couldn’t convince him to part with it. Trev’s latest acquisition is a 13ft long builders Greek liner in a case, it took six guy’s to get it into his house!!!
