Hi Taranis.

What is recommended voltage to use on Shannon?

Declan

[/size]

That would give you over 18,000 rpm which is more than adequate on 1:12 but I have no experience of 1:16

I would say they are physically oversize. Normally on 1:12 we use 3542

There isn't one.
You need to achieve circa 18,000 rpm. With brushless the voltage required is dependent on the KV rating of the motor.

A 1250KV motor at 6volts is 7,500 rpm

    1250 at 12 volts is 15,000 rpm

1250  on 4s 16.8 volts charged is  21,000 rpm on no load (my choice)

Others use only 7.2 volt nicads and 3000kv inrunners

Cheers  :-))

Getting the hang of it now in terms of the RPM/V

In the early afternoon , I received the 2water jets ordered 2 weeks ago . the reference of the enginees delivered with the water jets is A2217 1750kv 5T . I don't know the power in watt . With a3S battery the RPM will be 19425 .

I’m not sure but I used Zpoxy products.
Best person to ask is the eBay seller who makes them

Pretty sure it is epoxy resin but no harm in asking  :-))

You could also ask in the Shannon Facebook group if you tag Tony there.

EDIT I've posted the question

I started modifying the underside of the hull to make it flat .this will make it easier for me to set up the "ocean works " water jet .

So I started to fill in the 2 openings in the hull with plasticard polished for demouldering later . Then I passed gelcoat inside .

Bonjour ,

Fiberglass is now fitted in . When the resin will be dry , light sanding to erase the tracing .

Lifeboat colours are:
Oxford Blue 105
VW Brilliant Orange.
Rail Red
Light aircraft grey.

For both 1/12 and 1/16th scales, aim for 20,000 rpm and you will get around 16,000 in the water flat out. 12,000 is with the boatheld baxk (Max stall)

Use Upol body filler. Spot on stuff to fill everything and of course perfect glue.

Be carefull when fitting jet drives. The reason mine had the suction intakes almost at the stern was because that's were they should be, as per the real thing. That's why my jet drives were there. Being as far aft as possible prevents the boat from exposing the intakes to the air when it rides up under power. As soon as that happens, thrust is lost, instantly and down comes the bow. Porpoising.
The Owner of Hamilton Jet Drive in New Zealand tld me that.

Thank you for this information and advice . For the speed of rotation I use a 1750 Kv brushless with 3S lipo which should give about 19400 RPM .

In the past I have already built a speedline model , the LCM3 .

Rest assured Marco there is no dolphin activity with these drives. This was the first worldwide test of the prototype at Wilton Park. I had the trim tabs set too low at speed or it would be planing much better. As these were developed with my help from an existing jet drive the intake position had already been dictated. So yes not in the correct position but not a handicap.  :-))  Nice work

The original pictured in my hand with the developed ones fitted on the Shannon. I had these made for the MBD Shannon as an alternative to the KMB drives but everyone is using them now. They were never intended to be fitted to a Speedline hull.
