Superb!
Have you contacted the owners of the real boat? I bet they would be thrilled to see your work :-))

Thank you, Hama!

Yes, I have been in correspondence for some years now.
The vice president of Rauma Cata sent me the file with their logo, which I reproduced as stickers.
I have sent them pictures and a video of sailing. They are quite delighted, I can tell you!
I have the email address and the telephone number for the vessel itself.
These years, the problem has been, however, that DELFI is working in Norway almost constantly.
When she returns, I will visit the tug and get onboard to take some detailed photographs. Maybe get along on a little trip. I am very interested in how the deck crane is mounted on the side of the main hawse bollard. None of the pictures that I have found shed any light on that detail.

Thanks again!

Hi Hande,

I've absolutely loved combing through your build diary from start to finish.
This is soon going to be my next (third) project but the smaller hull version. Your excellent information here will help to put me in good stead.

Cheers,
Phil

Thank you Phil for your words!
These days, I’m still struggling to get the crane right. If you recall, DELFI has a crane attached to or near the main hawse bollard.

I wish you good spirits with your next  one!

Programming an "open" system is a lot of fun. I am not restricted by the manufacturer's choice of settings.
I include here the mixes. The code is not very obvious (many Mayhemmers know it better than I, I suspect). In some cases I might say, it's counter-intuitive.

Why not use a variable dualrate on the motorsteering?
That's much more flexible then a curve program.
Also for the ruddersterring, you can better program a servo delay in Open TX.
This way you keep your full rudder angel, but it comes in more slowly.

Thank you for the hints, Adam!
I already thought noone is interested in OpenTX.
You seem to have more knowledge about it than I ever had!

I confess, I don't even understand what variable dualrate means.

As for rudder steering, I don't want more rudder angle. It would appear awkward in water. I think I got it quite realistic as it is.

I tried the delay functionality, but I never got it to work the way I wanted. At least, curve programming works and it is intuitively more comprehensible for me.

A new picture  :}
...of another setback in a row of a hundred before, to be sure  :((
I glued it! There would have to be something that I would do wrong, of course.
This is from a nice detailed Effer crane kit of Italeri. It includes a very nice working double joint that I enjoyed watching as I moved the parts up an down. Until I went ahead and spilled Mr.cementS into the joints by misunderstanding of the minuscule detail that allowed the joint to move freely. I had to rip the arms off the model and now there's no enjoyment more.
Well, I'm going to keep the crane folded up any way, so I doesn't matter much.
A bigger problem is that the crane is way out of scale. On the other hand, I suppose, the captain of real DELFI would be pleased to have a crane this big onboard... {-)  Let's see, how it's going to look once I have figured out how it should be mounted on the deck in a realistic fashion. The mounting doesn't show in any of the photographs and the vessel itself is stuck in Norway, so I cannot go and check it out.

I got the crane on the correct spot, but the mounting is totally different from the real thing. I had to omit some extensions to keep it from stealing even more real estate on the deck. I cannot raise the arm more due to the broken joint, but you can estimate the reach of this monster, if it could reach out at full ability!

Next up, the bells and whistles of fittings that still remain unfinished.
