Cheddar Proteus timing
« on: July 22, 2024, 04:52:21 am »

Hi Guys.
I am a new member having joined a couple of weeks back. Some very interesting topics on steam. I have been building for about 20 years and have 9 working models. Some are scratch built and some are not. Anyway, some time ago, I saw a discussion on timing the Proteus engine. I recall there being a good deal of detail on the subject. It has a two piece crankshaft and it worked loose and separated just a wee bit. the eccentric was hitting the bearing cap. The adjustment was easy enough but in raising the two idler gears (which may not have been necessary) the timing was changed. Now for the life of me, I can't find that link or discussion even with various wordings. Can anyone locate it and send me the link?
Thanks very much:)Dave
