Booming Beaver US Navy Tug 1:30 Build log
« on: November 06, 2024, 03:35:15 pm »

Well here we go  :-)
Changed job a month ago, which reduced my commute from 45-60min till approx. 5-7min  :o
So now I can go to the club and build with other members. We have 20 build station available, where 4 is guest stations where you need to clean up each time, those who will build both Monday and Wednesday do not need to remove all their stuff each time. I have a guest station. And at the moment we are 100% loaded, which is great.

As I have to clean-up and remove my project each time, I picked this little project from the stock pile.
IIt's 1:30 => 205mm long  %% and a combination of milled ABS parts, 3D printed items and etched brass parts and it includes a motor, all in all it looks good, but the instructions is a bit basic and with some chines wordings.Kit is bought from Aliexpress.

Real life picture can be seen here. https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/navy-ships/a33766522/tiny-boat-smallest-ship-us-navy/

Only had like 2 hours at the club on last Monday.
The pilot house got the first part of filler, I'm using Deluxe Perfect Plastic Putty for these small boats.
The instructions is lacking the description on how to add the motor and servo  :((
Also the overview of of how to assemble the hull is a bit cloudy. But one will get there in the end.
The Etch brass is looking good and the rudder/nozzle i looking great. Hmmm forgot to take a pic. of the propeller and stern tube but they looks great.
When the motor is mounted it's a no return set-up.
The main hull frame has been glued, I'm using Deluxe Plastic Magic for this, I may use a 2K epoxy glue to reinforce the joints in the end.

Pictures from last Monday.
Slow progress as we are also helping each other with builds.
Main hull structure is glued together and the pilothouse has now window frames and some brass details.
Also the last picture of the brass fittings.
No build day tomorrow as we have the general meeting.
