12" Thomas Tug

Having recently bought a new 3D filament printer after making the usual accessories for it and some stacking Drawers to tidy up my workspace it was time to think about starting a modelling taask. Looking through some old folders containing files I had downloaded from Thingiverse in the past I found a set of STL files for the Model Boats December 2004 free plan for a 12 inch long tug. While the original files were basically for the hull and part of the superstructure I was able to find a later rework with the reast of the parts needed.The hull parts have now been printed are are ready to glue together and the superstructure has been started. I will probably be printing some parts with my resin printer to reduce the amount of finishing needed. A prop shaft is on order and I will be checking if I have a suitable motor spare.

Well that's the printing completed and the hull glued together. Now for the filling of the joints (good close fits so shouldn't need much work), priming and sanding. I have some Halfords High Build Primer to fill up the faint print lines, printed at 0.15mm line height so these can just be felt. The prop shaft came from Amazon and is 4mm with ball bearings in the shaft tube, the prop is slightly too large for the nozzle but will easily trim to fit.

Loctite super glue, I will probably glass the joints inside the hull but at the moment it feels secure.
