Right then Model Boats international have been in contact and wish to make it known they are Highly Embarrased about the editorial Blunder that has appeared in the present issue over the SHOW DATES,this was due to a human error which we can not go into a GENUINE MISTAKE.
There is going to be a correction and a show preview in Next Months mag which WILL BE OUT before the Blackpool show.
I forgot to mention that there Will be a BRING and BUY as usal at the show...so root through your sheds look underneath those benches nad bring some unwanted Modles or Building gear to the show and sell them....you might even get that new boat you have allways wanted.
Addmission to the show is £6/Day......Weekend Ticket £9.......children under 12 are Free.
A Model World will as usual be Holding A FREE raffle To WIN a Boat and other prizes as well

Tickets at Blackpool are done slightly different …Whilst most clubs take great advantage and buy between 30 and 65 reduced rate tickets as most members are coming we noted this was not fair on some smaller clubs who had only 3 or four members coming, especially those from a far so you can either still buy the reduced rate tickets if you have many members attending for the whole club or you can have up to 10 free tickets, you cannot do both its either 10 free tickets or buy as many as you want at the reduced rate (the tickets will also allow competition entry)..
Would club secretaries also pass this information on to members as some members complain about paying for tickets ..We do give the choice of free or reduced rate for all.
FOR EXAMPLE
So you as a club can have 10 free tickets or you can buy the reduced rate tickets which are 4.00 for the weekend never ever has it been 12.00 for a club member The clubs abive I refer to buy say 60 tickets at 4.00 each for the weekend effectively £2 a day which is nothing One of them then says right ten free tickets for the people manning the stand and Bill Ted Jim and so on all gte a free ticket and that leaves them fifty tickets which have cost them still £240.00 so £240.00 divided by 50 is £4.80 so each ‘non grafting’ member gets a weekend ticket for £2.40 thus the grafters get the free ticket and everyone else gets a silly priced ticket…Now some argue Im bringing a boat so I should get a free ticket well if you take that to the extreme every person walking through the door could bring a boat, everyone could therefore get in free and there would be no recoup of the show costs some £10k as well as some very messy club stands with a hundred boats on each.
You may well be tinking what on EARTH is this all about.......................Well it is very simple really RUMOURS OF THIS AND THAT are rife about the Blackpool show.....Maybee it is time we called this Month the SEPTFOOL month ............................
As a Famous Rally Driver said If in Doubt Flat out...............OR SHOULD I SAY IF IN DOUBT PICK UP THE PHONE AND ASK......
and stop spreading rumours
Last year We saw a 458 increase through the door on 2013
We are delighted to announce that after some hard negotiation with the Norbreck, we have secured the hotel again for 2014 and 2015
With set up on the Friday from noon
We have some added security this year with 5 cameras in the venue and a night watchman on site and inside the venue.
So lets get this RIGHT
Sat Addmission £6.................Sunday Addmission £6
WEEKEND TICKET ...........£9.50

I am thinking of coming for the third year on the trot, I really like blackpool show :-)).
Think I might bring a van load of kits down. To busy... and well fell into the trap of thinking id be a kit builder but prefer scratch.
See you there.
-
Any Deadliest Catch gear Chris?
Ned
-
Sadly not yet....I honestly cant express what a huge project this has been, it has mostly been myself and I need to work also to fund everything.....slow is an understatement. For all my optimism a year ago or so, this year has had one roadblock after another...culminating with a small operation at the start of summer.
I wont give up, as ive given it to much time, effort and money. I may need to reign it back and try to find the joy in it as opposed to a commercial adventure....hopefully everything will flow again :((
Kind of why ill get rid of my kits, ive got so many custom builds ahead ill never get round to them <:(
:-))
-
Hope you get where you want to be Chris.
Giving up is not an option as I was told
by one of my gurus many moons ago.
Ned
-
Thanks Netleyned
Ill get there :-))

hi guys . me and a few of the lads from west wales model boats are going to come up for the whole weekend . we have never been to this show before so i have a few questions
1: im just wondering if this show is a static show or is there a pond / pool to sail on !
2: we wasnt planning on displaying at the show as its our first year and was just going to attend as general public / spectators but if 1 or 2 of our members brought a boat / bought a boat at the shows bring and buy would we be allowed to sail it on the pond ( if there is one )
3: also as we are not displaying at the show are we still allowed to bring boats to sell on the bring and buy table
thanx in advance . ian :-)
-
in ans to your questions Ian

Yes

Really looking forward to this show. Just been to the Fleetwood Model Railway Exhibition last weekend, my eldest son exhibited his small layout there last year which he built himself ( Robins Lane ) and he was only 14 years old at the time and ran it with his 12 year old brother. Considering their age they both did really well and explained to onlookers about the workings of DCC powered sound equipped loco's. I was a proud dad of them both that's for sure :-) On a model boat theme, the eldest has a Dickie tug conversion and the youngest has a PCF Swift semi scale patrol boat which was converted from a cheap RTR police boat, you know the type, pod motors underneath that last for about 5mins in the water!!!! Anyway, look forward to the show, can't wait!!!!! Regards, Dave.

Just booked my room sounds like a good show :-))

Well worth the visit.

Second that, good show with some lovely models. Also some interesting new traders, bought people for my railway! Thank you to all the organisers and workers. Cheers Jim W :-))

Hi Folks, Myself my other half and two teenage sons have just been to the show yesterday. I managed to relieve my good half of vast amounts of money from numerous traders at the show. I noticed that there is a pool there and we took along our two sons boats. One is a Seaport tug that I have gutted out new prop, new prop shaft, motor, 6v gel shell battery, Graupner water pump and numerous lights. The other boat used to be a RTR Police boat that came with pod motors. This has also been ripped apart and now has a new motor, prop, prop shaft and paint job. It is till being built into a USA Vietnam type gun boat, work on going. I managed to get the boats in the pool in the morning for a brief run before they had to be taken out because five large lifeboats had to use the pool! A bit strange really because there was not much running all day in the pool and maybe more boats could have had a chance to run as quite a lot of the time the pool was empty. Anyway, it was a good show and enjoyed by all, no doubt I'll be kept busy for the rest of half term. Even managed to track down the famous Stavros and gave him some free magazines. Hopefully you find some pictures attached of my sons boats but if not I will try and upload them again.
Regards
Dave and family

Misunderstanding where did you get a free raffle ticket.

Well everyone,I have just had a wonderful weekend at the Blackpool Model Show, which was crowned by my model of the RMS QUEEN MARY,winning best in class.A wonderful tribute to her builder, and my great friend, the Late Wilf Burrows,of the Falmouth Model Boat Club Cornwall.
The amount of interest shown to both models I had on display was wonderful, with stories from ex crew members, which I will pass on as part of my answers to questions raised.
Thanks also to all the Mayhemmers who came over and said hello, good to meet you all guys.Especial thanks to my great pal,Neil Howard Pritchard, who on learning that I had broken the mast on the model, promptly went to his nearby home, collected his tools and effected a repair on site.Thank you so much.
-
Very pleased to hear about Queen Mary. Very well deserved as it is a wonderful model.
Colin
-
you got a free entry from your admission ticket and you could also purchase strips of tickets off the girls upon entering the show
Dave
-
This is a PERSONAL vote of thanks from Mark and myself to ALL the members of the Blackpool club which we are not going to mention your names you ALL know who you are for the hard work over the weekend O0 O0 O0
The girls on the door who Allways do a stirling job.
Thanks to all the traders who allways support the show...in excess of 20
The clubs and their members who came along .
As announced at the show we do not know YET whether it will be at the same place or it will be moved to a new venue STILL at Blackpool........WATCH THIS SPACE
Thanks to all the Mayhemers who came to say Hello you ALL know who you were.
Dave and Mark

Without wanting to put a damper on it, and with much respect to all those whose massive effort went into organising it, have to say I was a little disappointed with my visit on Saturday.
Seemed to be a little lacking in both traders and displays.
To throw a stick in the fire, I just wonder if of these shows would be better attended and less of the same old same if they were held on alternate years?
I know the Ellesmere Port show is a popular start to the year, particularly with the open water sailing if the weather is reasonable, but are Haydock and Blackpool too close together?
As I've tried to say, not trying to upset any carts, just offer up a suggestion for consideration.
-
I would echo the previous comment - but I went yesterday, Sunday, and it was, I suspect, even worse. I went through the pictures I did and then compared them with previous years and guess what - apart from one or two models it was the same old example in the same place, for the most part.
There may well be a commercial reason for continuing to hold this show but, for the life of me, I can't see what it is. Not only is it to close to Haydock it only two weeks off the Warwick/Telford weekend as well and, I know which I would sooner attend.
If I hadn't met so many old friends I would have written the whole day off.

im afraid . i agree .... was still a good show . and enjoyed seeing some old friends . and meeting new .... but unless you attend something like wicksteed or something down south . then you will get the same traders . same boats ... just because a lot of people wont travel more than 200 miles . with an exception from a few here and there ! ... but well done to the lads who worked at the show and made it a good show ! . just a shame about the displays and traders !

It should always be remembered that the Blackpool show started back in 1997 in mid-November, when nobody thought a late autumn show was worth the bother, with Warwick jumping in a few years down the line a week or so earlier in the full knowledge that that would be a spoiler. The Blackpool show moved to late October as that was the available date on the move to the present venue.
Anyway, just to add to Stavros' thanks, the guys from Fleetwood MYPBC provided great help with the setup as well. Also, the Bring & Buy raised £421.85 which I had the great pleasure of passing to the Lytham St Annes RNLI Station yesterday.

Ah well, 137 viewings of my post and not one reply, my sons and i must try harder next time, regards,
Dave.

Good Lord was it 1997 when the show was first held at the Tower. I remember it well when my shoes stuck to the carpet, the decoration and light bulbs appeared not to have been changed since the building first opened in 1890 something, the seating also appeared to be the original; the parking horrendous, no wonder the place has gone down the pan. The evening cabaret was unintentionally amusing as well, when the singer tried to exit the stage through a breeze block wall, she took it well though!
I should make clear that I'm not trying to devalue the effort put into making the show happen, just that there are few if any venues in Blackpool that could make a show such as this viable. This of course reflects badly on the town which, in so many ways, still lives on its past and has yet to realised that the World has moved on.
I am also being a little bit ungenerous about this years show when I said the day was almost a write off. It wasn't entirely, as I found what I though was a reasonable priced speed controller for a brushless motor for £25, only to find it on the Hobby King UK site for just over £10; so guess where I shall be purchasing brushless motors, speed controllers and other bits from in the future.

I have made a comment about the show on this page, and a further comment on another thread which I would like to repeat here......
Just like to say thanks to all the fellow mayhemmers who came over and said hello at the Blackpool Show,it was great to meet you all.I thoroughly enjoyed the show, there was a really good atmosphere, and many really good models.I was very surprised myself, to win the best model in its category for my Queen Mary Cunard liner,a wonderful bonus for travelling all that distance.I note on another thread that there have been a few moans and groans, which I think is sad really. There were at least 20 traders there, and I only noticed one that was missing from previous years. Despite what is being said about the same old models I disagree,my two had never been seen before, there was at least one Lifeboat on the enthusiasts stand on its maiden visit, and another one that won a best in category prize, and dozens of other models I had not seen before,in five years of attendance. The organisers work damn hard to put on the show, and they were certainly the nicest of people and deserve more than the bad reports they are getting. All I can say is, I hope I can see you all again next year, and thanks for a great show.
-
Thankyou for posting your pictures Davenotdone. I didn't go to the Blackpool shindig as it's too far as a day trip for me, so I do enjoy seeing and reading other's adventures.
-
No need for comments like that Dave! Glad you went to the show and your two lads enjoyed the use of the pool.It may have been better perhaps,if you had posted this on one of the other thread about the show, rather than starting a new thread? Good to see some youngsters taking part in the hobby!

I travelled 295 miles to put two models on the Lifeboat Enthusiasts stand that haven't been that north before, so for people to say nothing new I can only say I saw plenty of new models. Were they so busy looking for faults they missed the good stuff? Also if people got off their backsides and displayed their models there would be a lot for all of us to see. I don't always agree with what Rottweiler says but this I fully agree with him.
Thanks to Mark, Stavros & the crew, I enjoyed the show.

TonyO travelled nearly 300 miles to display, and I travelled nearly 400 miles to display. One of my models (not made by me!!!) one 1st in her class, and the LBES Stand that TonyO displayed on won best club exhibit.I am sure both of us would have been just as happy to show our models even had we not won anything. My prize winning model.......

With Haydock just two months beforehand and Warwick barely a fortnight afterwards one wonders about the prospects for this show's continuing. After some of the comments I've heard and read I wouldn't blame Mark W or the local clubs for chucking the whole shebang up in the air and walking away, leaving someone else to catch what they can of what's left. I suspect that the CADMA folk have had that experience already this year ref the Doncaster show.
So before anyone starts compiling a litany of gripes about the forthcoming Warwick show, be aware in advance that:
- It's £9.50 on the door and that there is an £8.50 concession for pensioners. Both are £1 cheaper if you book on-line in advance, right up until the Sunday of the show. If you consider that's too much for you then fine, but at least you were warned.
- This is a professional show, run by Meridienne Exhibitions for commercial profit; it isn't an "at cost" affair put on by a club or small group of traders. The rent for a trade stand is approx £500 per 3m frontage; the hire of chairs, tables and electricity is extra, so don't expect big "show" discounts.
- The people behind the trade stands are there to sell their goods; customers who stand back and wait to be served may not be noticed, especially at very busy times. This is neither sloppy nor deliberate. Later in the day is always the best time if you want advice and/or prolonged attention.
I mean no offence by any of this but I do want folk to be clear about what to expect - especially those who haven't been before - so that there is minimal scope for whingeing after the event. That said, I think it's the biggest and best show of the year and I would be very disappointed if I were unable to attend.
Dave M

My model (again not built, but proudly owned and displayed by myself) of the QE2
-
and lastly my newly acquired 1/12th scale model Lifeboat(not made by me!) which was displayed on the LBES stand and demonstrated on the pool Thames Class "Rotary Service"
This is just to emphasize, that all 3 of the models I have posted were at the show, and were just some of many that had not been seen before
Thanks,
Mick F
-
Three very impressive models there Mick,
A well deserved First in Class after
an 800 mile round trip.
Ned

All very well going to the Warwick Show as an exhibitor IF YOU ARE ALLOWED !! Last years theme was actually Cunard, and they could not fit me in! I was trying to enter as a loner but apparently only club entries were allowed.Again this year I could not enter my two models.I am now a member of a club, and will try to enter for next year for one final time.I exhibited with the LBES previously, but felt these two models of mine should be seen in tribute to the late builder of them Wilf Burrows.,a great modeller and friend.

"First time at Blackpool" "Not a lot of new stuff". There is a logic shortfall here.

Hi It was my first time at Blackpool was not impressed with the lack of traders and models not a lot off new stuff to see be going to Warwick and telford instead sorry.
Dave W
it puzzles me Davew that you admit that it was your first trip to this show............so how can you comment that there was a lack of traders and not a lot of new stuff.......when you have sod all to compare it with.............or are you just going with the flow of the other wingers and moaners that whinge and moan about the show every year..............and why do they keep going, because they want to whinge about something!!!!!.............get a grip on life you whingers...........if you don't like the show don't go...................simples.........then others who do want to go to it, won't be put off by your moaning and groaning.................it's a show where I can catch up with old friends from both on and off line....................and just get totally peeee'd off by those half empty glass type people who have sod all else in their lives other than to moan about something or other. >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( <*< <*< <*< <*< <*< >:-o >:-o >:-o

Right then ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
OK Fair comment about lack of signage in the hotel about the show POINT taken.
Toilets were far better this year.
Lighting was also addressed...OK NOT perfect but a big improvement on Previous years
Tables Being MOVED during the show...NOT TRUE as it was BEFORE 10 am I know htis as it was ME that was moving them !
Right lets get a few FACTS right here as Believe you ME you are so far wrong in your ASSUMPTIONS that there was a LACK Of traders......
FACT of the Matter is there was 22 TRADERS at the show................MMMM Lack of traders was stated.....MMMM...Funny thing is are YOU LOT going to COMPLAIN about the lack of TRADERS at the WARWICK show.....go on I DARE you as there are ONLY 22 TRADERS attending that show....................MMMMMM intersting fact isnt it
Fair Comment about the lack of Clubs attending the show..........BUT I will THROW it back in your faces ....get YOUR clubs to attend then THEN No one can complain.
You dont have to be a club member to show your boats off !!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the same boats attending the show well heck will you ALL complain about the same boats in Warwick.
MMMM Same boats in Elsmere Port show.
MMMM same boats at Haydock.
MMMMM same boats at Coalville.
MMMM same boats at Mayhem whatever show we ALL attend you will find very much the same group of clubs.
MMMM there is a PATTERN appearing here.
Now someone has stated why on earth do we carry on with putting the show on...This is ELLEMENTARY DEAR WATSON.
IF WE DIDNT CARRY ON WITH RUNNING THE SHOW YOU LOT WOULD COMPLAIN.
I will set the knockers of ANY show and boy oh boy there are MANY, A challenge
Have the courage of your convictions and RUN YOUR OWN SHOW.
Show everyone HOW GOOD YOU ARE.
I will PUT MONEY on it NOT a single one of you will Have the GONADS to do so....and that is FACT NOT FICTION.
The show MIGHT well be moving venue next year hopefully to a venue that has a lake on it so you can sail your boats to your hearts content still in the Blackpool catchment area.
RANT OVER
Dave
-
well said dave........and I applaud you for taking a stand, as I have done.................
when you get one whinger asking why should he display a model when he is a visiting public, it sort of crashes and burns his argument and whinging..............
we are all visiting public at these shows, but some of us try hard to show our models , whether they have been there once or a dozen times.........it makes no difference.......people like looking at them...........and if you want to see some new models.......then get b****y building and show yours............or as I said earlier.........put up or shut up!!!! >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(
-
Totally agree with you Dave.
Toilets and lighting are down to the hotel, not the show organisers. Why all the complaints previously about the lighting? After you have been in the hall for a few minutes you dont even notice any different.ALL public toilets smell after 100s of people use them, and these were cleaned.Couldnt have been SOME of the people who used them with bad aims and habits left them like that could it? I really appreciate the extremely hard work and hours, and mental and physical energy that goes on in producing such a large show. And the worries of being able to cover such a high cost of putting it on.So all you whingers, will we have a record turnout of new models and exhibitors next year because you are all going to enter? We shall see wont we!!! Lets have some positive praise here!!
Mick F

Will someone just post some bloody pictures..

The show MIGHT well be moving venue next year hopefully to a venue that has a lake on it so you can sail your boats to your hearts content still in the Blackpool catchment area.
I can already hear the voices.....
"It's too windy to sail"
"No-one told me it was salt-water"
"There's no ruddy catering"
"The burgers are expensive/greasy/disgusting/all three"
"It's miles to the nearest chippy"
"I can't use that for a toilet!"
"I had to walk nearly a hundred yards with my boat......it's not fair on us old 'uns"
"HOW MUCH TO GET IN??? It was only a couple of pounds last year"
"Why isn't so-and-so here? I wanted to buy a XYZ"
"I've seen that model here for the last twenty years at least"
"You might have said that the car parking wasn't included in the price of admission. I am on a pension, you know"
"He's got the camouflage all wrong for the 1942 refit, and there were never four 0.5 machine guns; it was two and a Bofors"
and my very favourite...............
"Is that your best price??" >>:-(
Stavros - you're beginning to find out what a lot of us have known for quite a long time. If you can't please any of the people any of the time then just please yourself. It hurts less afterwards. 8)
Larry
There's quite a few different threads about this show. Have you checked all of them? %)

I am saddened by both these parallel threads. I am a model boat enthusiast, although we seem to be in declining numbers. How am I going to fairly evaluate which shows are the best to visit, especially when this one may involve almost 500 miles return trip, when accounts of this show appear to be swamped with hostile postings.
I had hoped to see loads of photos, perhaps a list of suppliers who had taken the time and trouble, and some of the most unusual and interesting things on display. eg: Are shows around a lake, or in a hall with a paddling pool?
IMO Wicksteed is great. I love Deans Open Days, Alford is also good. Sad that Beale Park has died, that was good too. My own club run an excellent Open Day at Black Park. I like meeting up with old friends, meeting new friends, and seeing a wealth of interesting shipping that does not sail locally.
Is this too much to hope for? As enthusiasts we should support each other, and especially support the suppliers without whom our builds would be tough to complete. :}

It does seem that there are perhaps too many exclusively model boat shows. A 'good' one probably needs a couple of hundred models to be worthwhile and a decent area of water to play on - animation is vital in any exhibition.
For example the Ellesmere Port show seems to fill the bill quite well.
Perhaps there should be a condensation of shows to maybe three a year, one north, one midlands, one south. The boat groupies can drive hundreds of miles to all three, the saner ones just do the one closest.
I come to this conclusion as I was a railway modeller in the past and visited (and still do) many model railway exhibitions. There are dozens of these all round the country every month, but in contrast to boats a reasonable exhibition can be made with just a dozen or so layouts, since most train layouts are animated, and 5-10 traders, so it works.
And to those who say it's a place to meet acquaintances, etc - WRONG. That's a social event, not a public exhibition. (But I was brought up with the principle that if the host/hostess of a party was enjoying themselves, it probably wasn't a very good party.)

Condensing the shows, Well that will just never happen, some are run by Commercial organisations who will only reduce if not Viable, a good example of that was the short lived Northwest show in Manchester, this started about 3 years ago and was set for the same date as the Ellesmere port show in full knowledge that there was already an established show happening, albeit was not just a Boat show, this lasted 2 years and then was taken off the list.
There will always be clashes, but as you say pick the ones you want to go to and that's that.
Yes they are public exhibitions I have been to some where no one talks to you Boring !!, However all the Boat shows I have visited I would say are also extensions of big family get togethers and socialising is compulsory. :-))

One of the most depressing weekends I've ever spent. Show was mercifully killed off, despite ridiculous prices (e.g. £400 asked for a mains electricity connection) because it didn't make a profit. I particularly didn't enjoy having to carry everything from the stand piecemeal on a round trip of half a mile to the car park. On the last of five such trips some herbert in a high-viz said to me "Oh, they've opened up the main car park to traders now - you can move down there to finish loading".
I tried valiantly, but looks don't kill. I drove away idly dreaming of the Norbreck.................

I've got to say that many of the models WERE the same as previous years. The whole show lacked enthusiasm, the lighting dull, the traders were thin on the ground and the toilets still had their own distinct aroma. And just to be picky when entering the show all i received was a stamp on my hand but no free ticket. Roll on Ellesmere Port, cheaper entrance fee, better lighting, more clubs, more traders and sweet smelling toilets. I await the criticism of my comments!

same old, same old..............no originality, no enthusiasm.......your comments sound like the show from all accounts...............come on, if you are going to complain, come up with something original, lol............or else you fall into the same category as you put the show in, {-) {-) {-) {-)

Well , I'll come up with something original . . . anyone notice how few KID'S there were (Saturday anyway) there's were the decline in shows is coming from . . . not just model boats , it's across the board, all kind's of events are in terminal decline , our 'humble' servants have decided that there will be no practical skill's taught at schools any more . . .I think we will be the last generation indulging in 'making' things . . .
Also the INTERNET has scuppered 'show specials' the price of materials / kit's etc is little different at a show these days than what you can buy on the internet (can be post free too ) it must be expensive for a trader to haul their stuff around / book a table etc . . . I used to try to aim at spending enough cash at an event to offset entry fees / some of the fuel cost and I just cant do it now . . . .

Well Bill myself and my two kids ( 13 and15 ) turned up on the Saturday and they ran there two boats on the indoor pool. I asked the lady running the pool for permission ( radio clashes etc ) as nothing was running at the time . They were well chuffed but had to get them out shortly due ' The Lifeboats ' coming on. After ' The Lifeboats' had been on nothing much using the pool ( again ). Bit weird really, loads of boats about but a bit reluctant to get them wet? In the afternoon A fire boat and a paddle steamer were seen running in the pool. On the Sunday i had to nip back ( i am local ) to exchange some faulty items i had bought ( got it sorted ) and noticed ' the lifeboats ' were out again and as i left afterwards in the pool was the same fire boat and paddle steamer. All a bit weird but as a family we all did enjoy the show. I allso did notice the lack of kids at the show, however my eldest is allso into model railways ( oo gauge dcc sound ) and at 14 built with the help of me a small model railway ( Robins Lane ), got 3rd prize in the Hornby magazine and exhibited it at a local model railway show. My two boys have a working steam traction engine, like Airfix kits, Lego, model railways and of course model boats but is my family the exception?????????? Regards, Dave

I can't see any message that mentions 'no originality' or 'no enthusiasm'! :-))

Hello
I believe to know about what I speak: I am the creator of GAZOULAND and the organizer of GAZOULAND during 6 years. I stepped down(put the hand) two years ago to a man younger and more dynamic than me.
I am also one of the creators of the French forum " the friends at first "(." les copains d'abord ") I am one of administrators .
All this with the example of MAYHEM
I notice that in UK it is as in France: it are the ones who do not move the ass of their chair which criticize most.
Not enough models new! Who makes a model a year?
No animation? Have they navigated?
Toilet smell bad! When they go for a pee make they inside or close by? Make they pour the water ?
The shows are going to disappear, not because the laws are very binding, but because grouches who have never done something other than grumble will have destroyed the reputation of these shows.
I pity these losers(poor guys) who were born by grumbling and who will die by grumbling. Sad life ..............
I made seven exhibitions in UK, I saw several times the same boats but I also saw people who became friends. I have not ever regretted 3000km or money spent on coming from the middle of France? I have memories(souvenirs) height the head.
In France it is as in UK: we always wait to see the faultfinders in the work.
Good day to all, good luck to the organizers

Hi Stavros thanks for your offer but no thanks as for a keyboard warrior and whinger I have only put up 62 post on this forum compared to your 3,720 post so you must be the better keyboard warrior and whinger.
thanks davew.

just a question to anyone who complains about any show, what will you do when we don't bother putting on these shows for you? me and john both have wanted to say sod it we won't bother but the fact is what will we all do without them? yes we don't get it right all the time but at least we are helping our traders (which is why we put on Ellesmere port on) and our hobby. without us Muppets doing these shows our hobby will go into decline much sooner me thinks
just my opinion well done to anyone who even tries to help we are all getting on a bit

must admit Dave, I found that strange as well.............normally the Lifeboat guys ( and I am one but had mislaid my batteries at home since my summer hols) who sail on the pond, have to fight for a slot.............with such as the yachters who bring their own wind, the miniature guys who sail the modified plastic kits, the Lifeboat Teddybear crews and the deep sea survey vessel........and a few more clubs who put on displays through out the two days...........all have been attending for a number of years, and enjoy themselves...............and not one of the teams were there this year............did see the tugboat footy though and that was fun............so where they have all gone??? who knows. neil.
-
Yes Neil, it was like 'pulling teeth' to get my two boys boats on the pond ( pictures on another Blackpool show thread ) it seemed the pond was exclusive and all i was trying to do was encourage my two boys in the hobby.....................just the sort of thing the hobby needs don't you think? Regards, Dave.
