Just bought a Graupner Bugsier 3 with a few modifications.

Redid the light and smoke unit as they were done with manual switches, I replaced it with a Graupner SXM unit and some descent connectors. Added a fresh ESC and a orange receiver.
The motor also need to be re-positioned as it is of by 2-4mm and the builder has corrected this with a double coupling set-up causing vibrations. But this will be done after next Saturday as we have a display day and only a few members have time for this so we need all the models we can gather.

Pic's to follow

1/24 scale early open cockpit TID Tug as used by US Army - glass fibre hull with plastic card superstructure built from plan - almost complete and weathered but needs final rigging and completion of an accurate pattern windlass.

1/24 scale TID tug. This is a nice looking model I have been sailing for 2 years or so but now I have some plans I can see it is not as accurate as I thought it was so it is ready for a strip-out and new superstructure and detailing. This will also be an open cockpit type as used by the US Army and based on pictures I have seen of one with a fabricated steel cockpit cover - probably "knocked-up" by the crew as a "one-off" but it will make an interesting model.

1/24 scale TID tug - one I bought s/h. It is a bit rough but it has a nice glass fibre hull so it will be stripped and given new decks and an accurate superstructure and possibly built as one of the later diesel powered types with the lower funnel and closed bridge.

1/25 scale ODIN tug. This was completed by a local modeller many years ago and then left un-sailed in his garage. Everything that can corrode has done but I have stripped and rebuilt the motor and all of the electrics are now being replaced. I have test sailed it at Southport to check the required ballast before final re-fitting and appropriate weathering so it is "almost finished".

Suzie Q.  I just found my original Model Maker plan that I paid five shillings and sixpence for when it first came out. I built it in 1965 (I think) The OS 40 powered original was given away when I moved house many years later as we run out of space on the removal van. I have started making the templates and will be cutting wood later this week.

Remora. I still have the December 1964 Model Maker magazine with the free plan. I built this in 1964 but it was given away with my Suzie Q so it will finally be replaced as I build it again - but with electric power this time! This may well be built alongside Suzie Q as I relive my youth!

Large glass fibre hulled Huntsman.  I picked this up a few years ago and now I am retired I am hoping to get it re-furbished and running again later this year.

1/24 scale Dogboat.  An unbuilt Deans Marine kit that I will get around to starting.....sometime. I have looked at it lots of times but apart from taking the hull out of the box it has not seen any action yet.

A 24" glass fibre "flattie" hull that I bought at the Woodvale Show this year for £3 - but has cost me a lot more since as I have fitted an alloy outdrive unit and off-set rudder assembly and I am now making a flexi-shaft to  fit. My first effort at a fast outdrive so I am sure to make a few mistakes along the way but I have a Turnigy D2836/8  1100KV motor and some LiPo cells that should shove it along OK.  Then I need to design and make a suitable "top" as the hull came without one.

Was the lavender colour originally made from grey with a small amount of red oxide or was specially mixed? Sorry for the in depth colour question!

I believe that there was a tie in with the Union Castle line hence the Lavender Hull paint.

Hi, I remember reading that in the days of smuggling, the Customs Men, looking for the illicit import of spirits etc along our coasts would be on the look out for ships painted pale grey.  These would be prime suspects as smugglers.

I am just completing a Glynn Guest Ogdensburgh.

Mountbatten actually took the colour because he noticed that the Union Castle lines ships disappeared earlier in the early morning light at sea.

Three of our members are bringing SS Blackheath back to the Display Teams fleet. Belonging to one of our now sadly departed members, it has languished in a box for four years or more now. Originally it had ballast pumps fitted and could perform its party trick on command. This made the model very heavy and the previous owner removed all the pumping equipment. This capability is what we are building back in. Also changing the models profile somewhat, which will result in what we have temporarily christened 'SS Not Blackheath'.

12th. scale Suffolk Bawley. 'Lyn Miller'

The hull of my current project is now complete and I hope to get around to the top hamper with the onset of Autumn when SWMBO's obsession with holidays has been temporarily sated

The finished weight be about 6kg+ including all gear, (rudder, lever arm sail control, motor,  and detachable 'D' shaped fin.

The bawley is named after the very kind lady who has made up the sails for all my previous models.
