Has Peterborough Model Centre gone then? I know Mike Elsom sold it some time ago & the new guy moved from Lincoln Road. Used to use it a lot when I lived in Upwell.

In North London we have 308 Hobbies (formerly Henry J Nicholls) down in Holloway Road. Hobby Stores in Camden (formerly Aeronautical models) and Enfield (formerly Red Baron models). Not a model shop, but useful for modellers anyway- Alec Tiranti in Warren Street, and moving a bit further in we have the 4D modelshop (more aimed at professional modelmakers and artists) and Modelzone (formley Beatties) in Holborn.

We used to have Als Hobbies in Finchley, but they shut-up shop a couple of years ago.

Abergavenny Model Shop - Gwent, S. Wales
Lesro Models - Christchurch, Dorset (although I wasn't that impressed the last time I went in there....)

Now in Peterborough we have a 'Modelzone' franchise which is limited although there is a large model railway shop that stock paints, glue, some stripwood, tools and Evergreen which does help. Inwood in Huntingdon are aircraft specialists and have excellent wood stock, including 4 foot strip  :-)  Masons in Spalding carry some useful stuff as well, they're all helpful. And not to forget Deans Marine at Farcet with enough to keep you busy for a long time  :-))

We used to have Johnnie Hutcheson's model shop in Fraserburgh , had a big stock of all type of models including r/c boats , planes , etc but Johnnie shut the shop about 12 years ago but still kept a small stock of models in his hardware shop until he retired 2 years ago. There was a shop in Peterhead but I don't know if its still on the go ( I think it is but not been through for over a year ) , not sure about Aberdeen.

In the main for us its internet only now really

We have antics, they do all models, plastic kits of boats, planes, cars etc aswell as all rc stuff (part of anticsonline theyve got branches elsewhere), that's in the city centre, then in st George there's Model mania, not been in there for a long time but they used to be more for trains.

Not sure about any others.

Tbh (I'll probably get a flaming for this) but I'm surprised no one mentions hobbycraft, I get all my paints, brushes, glues and some good price kits from there. Got a 1/400 tirpitz kit for £14 this week, hull is hard to glue together but I never find airfix kits to be good quality.

Midway Models in Leicester has some nice stuff and is very helpful but even he's had to branch out into other toys to make it viable!

Hello, If we do not patronise our local model shops it is obvious that we are going to lose them, you cannot get the face to face expert advice off a computer.  Nemesis

Squires at Bognor Regis are not actually a model shop as such but do sell lots of useful stuff plus there is also a proper traditional Model Shop in Bognor too.

The one in Chatam is the better one.

Inverness has a traditional model shop in the Victorian Market, not much in the way of boats.   Dingwall a few miles north of there has the Sports and Model Shop with a better selection and a few boat bits and kits.

We have at least two here on the Wirral, Kit Stop in Birkenhead and Wirral Model Shop, who have just moved premises to Victoria Rd in New Brighton. Both shops have their merits, Kit Stop for tamya stuff, boats and cars, and Wirral model for railways, boats aircraft, reasonable selection of materials and boat fittings. They also have a repair service.
Martin, I used to have an Uncle who lived in Wisbech, The annual family holiday was spent there every summer, I vaguely remember a model shop somewhere near the market place, Uncles treat being an Airfix kit for when it rained, I remember the parts would be in a plastic bag, with the instructions stapled on as the 'lid' :-)) :-))

Model shops in Nowich:-  Phoenix models, mainly aircraft but there is a lot of radio gear and modelling materials.
Modelzone         cars, trains etc, modelling materials.
Langleys            toys downstairs, models upstairs, trains, various plastic kits, modelling materials
                                   Kerrisons                "                         "                         "                         "

Great Yarmouth also has an R/C shop but never been to it.
