Cad is not easy to learn from scratch and views are limited to the screen monitor  size which in my view is a severe handicap. Drawing half frames on tracing paper are also easily flipped to give reversed images which can be traced through to produce whole sections or frames. Missyd already has various plans of the boat ready for use. The frame drawings are ready to transfer to timber when construction starts. Ultimately an accurate side elevation plan will give the correct height relationships of the frames to create the correct overall  keel and deck outine shapes.I am enjoying the thread and watching the project take shape.

I always draw on paper too, I just like creating a drawing that you can unroll and show people what you drew and then the product that came from it.
I really do appreciate the skill involved with CAD though and if it was available to me some years ago then I might have taken it up, but I'll stick to drawing for now....... U2

I did learn some CAD back in the ninties, but being the usual know it all teenager/just twenty something, I beleived that it would not have much effect on the small design/model making business.

Wrong! I do wish I had kept it up and would probably use it in my new hobby today, but I do like a roll of plans and there is something comforting about the pencil and a good eraser. I can certainly see the pros of drawing on a 'pooter' but think that a larger screen would be beneficial.

Hullo Danielle...............if that's the straight cut line & surface you get from the Proxxon band saw it must be worth its weight in gold ...do you use the standard 14 TPI blade, or the flame hardened shorter length version?.....especially to attain those inner radius surfaces so cleanly

They are about $500.00 in Australia  >>:-(............. Derek

Thanls a lot ! I use the original blage that was already with the bandsaw. Its very fine and the cuts cleaner as with any saw I used in the past. The price is quite expensive even here in switzerland.

I do like to see plywood and love the smell. Those frames are very tidy and smoothly shaped Danielle.

Top job. I look forward to see more progress soon.

Well.......that appears to be an extremely robust hull frame construction Danielle  :o.......have you weighed all of the frames?

As a general question, I wonder what type of adhesive the manufacturers use on these types of laminations?, which are also appearing increasingly now also in complex V W V male & female grooves [finger] joints in wood that is destined for external surfaces in [expensive] semi-modern furniture

No I didn't put the frames on a scale sofar .... there are more frames than on the FV Cornelia Marie which has a empty hull weight of 7-8kg

Thanks a lot Mark!  :-))

As I hadn't designed the bow sofar I decided to make one in 3D out of insulation material and then cut it into slices to get the right shape of the front sections. 1 Week of dirty work and the bow is ready to be sliced ....

Any knife or cutter can be used ....

After the first shaping session without even looking at the pictures of the bow ....

After the second and final shaping session---
