I have found just the opposite with my model korts.
My Seaport tug with the original prop and nozzle picks up
weed.reeds and small plastic bags with ease.
My springer with a kort nozzle and flat bladed prop
does not have the problem.

Have now glassed the motor mount etc in using fiberglass paste as opposed to filler - much better. Thanks chaps.

Stavros was quite correct - as per my previous post I applied some pressure to the filler fitted motor mount and was able to 'remove' it. So I have removed all the parts I had fixed in with filler, removed any remaining filler from the areas where those parts were adhered, made up a new motor mount and have now fixed everything with fiberglass paste. Much, much stronger - a 'proper' job. Today I have to make up battery mounts and and an internal propshaft support. A big thank you to Stavros for saving me from a potential disaster when operating the model..........

Well - I changed my mind once again and decided to go with a fixed kort and rudder. Next problem was where and how to get a suitable rudder. In the end I decided to go with a standard shop bought rudder as a starting point and then build up laminations of ply around it and then sand it to shape. I hope the final result of these labours is not too too bad.........

Hiya Jon,

You may want to round the corners of the rudder a bit more to enable better water flow with no  'Eddie-currents'

Cheers

Now I am starting to think about the best way to do the deck and its support framework and indeed what material to use in their construction. Probably I will go with a plastic deck and a wooden support framework. I also plan to fit a towing hook in case we ever feel the urgent need to tow something. So that will need a fairly hefty support under the deck. Seem to have spent the majority of this week dealing with medical matters so have not had much time for boats this week.

Here is the basic electrical system in situ. Still looks a bit like a squirrel's nest but please pardon that...

Hi Ian

Sorry about the slay in replying. I put the tug on hold for a while so I could gain some more experience before cracking on with it. I hope to getting on with it in about 2-3 months time.
