Our FFG's [Oliver Perry Class Frigate] used a GE LM2500 gas turbine coupled in through a very sophisticated gearbox assembly with an auxiliary input shaft fed by a high speed diesel engine [possibly a GM variant]...thankfully my role was on deck or in launcher or gun mount housings, not in grubby engine compartment spaces

Newer to my time, I think our ANZAC class Frigates have the same but twin GE LM2500 + Wartsilla CODAG drives...this [CODAG] concept had little to do with attaining higher speed, as missiles can cover greater distances in immeasurably less time, so the design was more to do with versatility and ease of maintenance whilst underway at speed
But I think the example shown in the ABELL transmissions does not have any compensation for varying efficiencies or inefficiencies between motors, let alone the power loss created with the 1:1 belt drives ...
Having said this... they do look the part......Derek
