Tenby lifeboat
« on: January 12, 2015, 10:04:04 pm »

Hi all. I am building Tenby lifeboat based on a Speedline models kit.  I purchased my kit in May 2012 and have been working through steadily. The kit has proven to be challenging to say the least! I have been model boating for some 35 years and have built a wide range of models. I am approximately 80% through the build and hope to have her sailing this coming summer. I will post some pictures when I work out how to resize my files!!! Alan.

That's very neat.    :-))

Are you panning on spraying it  ?  I was thinking of the brasswork installed that might be a hindrance.

cheers

Hi Ken. You are right about the painting it would be a nightmare!! But at present nothing is fixed so it can be painted and then fixed in to place. The superstructure is almost ready for its colour coats.

Cheers Alan  :-))

Hi Derek.  It is all my own work. One of the most complex brass work parts of the build.  %%  Something like 20 hrs work. It sounds a lot but  was worth it to get it something like.

Regards Alan.

Absolutely amazing attention to detail Alan
The door and hatch look real and the Y boat
looks like it's ready to go.

I am building a scratch-built Tyne class lifeboat, but I look at yours, then at mine, and I feel like putting mine in the bin, (but of course I won`t), just have to live in awe of modellers like you.   Well done!   Pete
