Thanks for the picture Don. She is great eh !!.  You going over to yachts ?  I've been doing my usual research and details are quite sketchy on this model.  I'm hoping for a build blog somewhere perhaps.

Thanks for volunteering Stavros. I'll be sure to keep in touch with you.   ;D

Ken

The Trawler isn't mine - it was built by a clubmate - I just took the photo !  Always was a yottie for preference -  though I have a few power models. I hesitated about another yacht - I have five already - but I just couldn't resist the Moonbeam it looked so fabulous.

I think Stavros was offering to paint the Moonbeam  for me but I'm sure he would do the Trawler as well for you if you pushed him  O0

We got back from our 750 mile round trip late this afternoon and I would like to thank all those Club members and traders who so freely gave of their time to answer all our questions and make this such an enjoyable event. My thanks in particular go to Dave at Action for being so good as to sell me one of his display samples and to Adrian at Speedline for steering me in the right direction with sorting out a problem with my Bluebird. Quite apart from being able to examine at close quarters the excellent modelling skills of other modellers, these shows allow us to look at and buy those bits and pieces that are simply not available locally. Long may such events continue. It was also a pleasure to bump into Martin - complete with camera as usual - made our visit! Here's to next year.

Just a word of thanks to all of the Mayhem members who turned up at the stand and helped to make it such a successful show for Liz and I. In no particular order, I  remember seeing Kayem, BigH, Barriew, Chingdevil, Johno, WelshDruid, Faradays Cage, Telstar, Stan, Tug-Kenny, LongBuild, ALG141, Admiral Sir Colin Bishop, Kiteman1 and PeterM, along with probably a few others whom I've forgotten.

I have to mention - of course - the force of nature that is Dr Tim Fawcett (aka Wombat), who did such a magnificent job playing G-Granville to my Arkwright........ O, yeah, and a funny-looking gink with a bright blue shirt and a camera stuck to his hand. Without that final arm-twist from Da Main Man Martin Mayhem hisself in April we wouldn't have been there at all.

I think it's fair to say that we enjoyed ourselves immensely but, boy - was it hard work! Now I have to replace all the stock that you lot bought....have you no pity at all?? Seriously, thank you all for your support; it vindicates our decision to take on ACTion.

Congratulations to The Long Build for a great picture of the Blackheath stand (thats me in the hat on the left just in case you didn't know)-- good shot of the springer. It was also on my stand that Tug Kenny found a large full colour pic of that fateful moment. Had a very good show spoke to quite a few mayhemer's ( I had a large mayhemer type sign on the stand). Like the idea of a Mayhem stand, could be manned by various members during the three days (no charge for exhibiting)

hello all. The idea of a Mayhem stand sound real good O0  I have an idea. There are a far few modelers that do not belong to a model boat club for one reason or another. It would be nice if they could put there boats on  mayhem stand. surely this will help promote the forum. john

I would like to volunteer to   'Man the stand'   if you go ahead with this.

It's the perfect solution, isn't it Guys and Gals

Mind you ...  if I bring  my   boats, it might put people off.   ;D

Can we have a megaphone ....   Roll up,  Roll up,   sort of thing.    ::)

Perhaps we could start a club, as you say John quite a few people do not belong to a club. I would help man the stand if it came about and perhaps next year we could get a game of football there with the springers.

Yes, the steak & kidney pie was, in Michael Winner's words, "historic"!

I'll take your word for that, but did they do child-size portions? Seeing what some customers were struggling to carry away from the serving counter, I think they should either reduce the size of their generous portions, or start using larger plates. I'm making half hearted efforts to watch my weight, so I only had a sandwich.

IF.... we can arrange a Mayhem Stand for next year, what should we have on it or use it for?

Displaying models made by Mayhemmers and as a base for "have a go sessions" on the pool for kids.

(and yes, for the Steak & Kidney)

WHY NOT USE THE STAND TO PROMOTE THE MAYHEM SITE AND MODELS ON IT,&  TO POTENTIALLY ATTRACT INTEREST FROM THE TRADE TO SPONSOR MARTIN  AND HIS INCREASING MAYHEM SITE OPERATING COSTS !- SO THE MODELBOAT MAYHEM STAND COULD BE BROUGHT TO YOU WITH SUPORT FROM JOE BLOGGS MODELS OR WHATEVER, THE STAND COULD BE FILLED WITH MODELS  FEATURED ON THE SITE AND MODELS FROM MAYHEM MEMBERS, AND IT COULD BE A GREAT WAY OF PROMOTING THE MAYHEM SITE AND THE  FORUM TO THOSE NOT IN THE KNOW !  - ALSO WHY NOT GET SOME FOOTAGE OF THE MAYHEM GATHERINGS AT WICKSTEED IN 2007 AND WALES IN 2008 AND SHOW THEM TO SHOW THOSE WHO DID NOT ATTEND WHAT THEY ARE MISSING !

ITS GOT TO BE A BENEFIT SURELY !

( MAYBE SPONSERED BY PUKKA PIES STEAK AND KIDNEY FLAVOUR !!!)

I think that if it's deemed to be a commercial stand we'd have to pay for it - a lot! I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be a "club" stand thoughg, with member's models as you suggest Guy.

Is there room for another stand ?

The layout was almost the same as last year, and there wasn't a lot of gaps in the floor space, as I recall.  Will they have room for the world's Number One Boat Club.

So we won't be able to sell any Pies, then Colin ?   ;D
