Speedo current draw ??
« on: October 26, 2009, 02:55:54 pm »

Hello, On connecting my 125A "SUPPO" electronic speed control I get quite a spark ( using my safety loop as isolator) & when programming (I stopped) it was getting quite warm. Is this normal ?? Should I be running cooling water during this procedure ?? Motor wasn't running, wiring & components are matched correctly....

Thanks in advance, Larry

With no motor running, and only programming the esc, then no,it should not get warm.....ever. :o Re-check your wiring,as it sounds like you may well have a short somewhere,or the polarity is reversed somewhere.

Double & triple checked polarity I'm afraid & all was well....  Thank you for your input all the same... Cheers, Larry

Just as a matter of interest Larry, what voltage were you planning on operating at? Too high a voltage is the only other way that the esc could heat up like that.

Running 6 Lipos on a 125A Suppo, the manufacturer rate it 4-6 Lipos...But it also crossed my mind... Thanks for your input.. :-))
