hopefully have time this weekend to start on my 1:100 scale fiesta ferry,
the original plan was to build the hull from wood and the top half from styrene to give it good stability in the water but i've now decided to build the hull from styrene to so thats put me back a couple of weeks as i've had to re-draw the hull plans,
the model will be 5ft long, 1ft wide and 1ft above the waterline, on a scale model this size the hull should be 6cm below the waterline but my model will be 8cm, not much difference but a little more stable.
the hull will also be a much more simpler shape to what it should be as this is my first build and the real hull looks very complex.
i've got two 4x5ft sheets of 1.5mm styrene to start me off(£29 the pair) but might need some thicker stuff for strengthening then i'll probably use 1mm for the skin.
as the build goes along i'll post updates and pics on this thread and as its my first build feel free to give me hints, tips and advise.
