I like the bowsprit and her array of chains. Looking darn good Ken.

Well I'm so cross with myself, went to do some rigging on this and dropped it, snapped off the rear mast broke the shrouds on the fore mast snapped some of the rigging on the bowsprit, a few of the hatches have come off, broken some of the stanchions round the top of the rear cabin. luckily nothing that cant be fixed but its put me back quite a bit, Grrrr and no one to blame but my butter fingers. I could almost swear, flippin heck, blimey and fiddle sticks (sorry for the profanities there)

It is so bloomin annoying when our muscle control systems fail us in such a dramatic way. It almost calls for a senior moment page!

Well, I hope none of the bits have dissapeared and that yoyu have no problems getting everything restored.

Luckily I have all the bits that matter, a couple of the belaying pins have snapped off and disappeared but I don't think it will matter and I don't think anyone would notice unless I pointed it out.

Hi all well repairs made.
This believe it or not was the worst bit ( I glued that wheel on at least half a dozen times)

and made a bit more progress

Hi all here is tonight update may I first say anyone contemplating this ship, please read the rigging instructions alongside the build instructions and dont leave them till the end, as you can plainly see I have not done that and still I've made things extremely awkward for myself, there is some rigging from the main mast to the four iron rings in the deck which now I have the belaying pin racks and the foremast shrouds in place will be extremely difficult to attatch.
anyway here is where I'm at now.

Hi all here is the next update on this

Baring in mind these are almost Identical scales (the thermop is 1/96 and the soliel is 1/100) I still cant believe how much heavier and bulkier and cumbersom the soliel was (I mean I know she had to be able to withstand cannon fire and such) but she must have been sooooooo slooooowwwww

, how did you spring your Bowsprit? Will it glue straight back in place without removing the sheets and chains? I am sorry to see that Sods law has been at work and wish you a successful repair job.

You are right regarding the shapes of the ships, they are designed for different jobs in the same way warships and container ships are differently shaped and sized today

Thanks mate unfortunately for some reason I can't get it back in place either the dolphin striker is bent or the top of the foremost is bent so will have to cut all the rigging and start again (just deciding which to cut)

Ouch Ken

....however just like the real vessel, with all of the ropes & wires in tension [triangle of forces]....it would have been impossible to simply reattach the bowsprit

Has the foremast top gallant moved/sprung backwards after the tension was lost?

I am very peased to see that you managed to repair her without resort to throwing it in the bin or just going mad and running up and down your road waving the model in the air and ranting.

She's really starting to look excellent and I am glad that you found theraputic value from doing the ratlines.

Hi all here is the next update I noticed a split in the vac form mizzen sail and was going to patch it with a stitched square then thought I would experiment with some super glue.

Unfortunately the superglue made the weathering go white but a coat of acrylic white and you would never know.

I've finished all the ratlines on the forecast
