It's a very fine day this day when the lake was calm enough to observe correctly how the boat would behave under actually  no wind/wave. She did a good sailing behaviour fundamentally as seen in the pics. The video will be here tomorrow to report this sailing scenes more and more precisely and vividly.!!!!!! :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

This was the second day of trial run and there is still room for improvements like insufficient countermeasures against water ingress which defect was this time drastically reduced, but not perfect partly due to deck hatches being exposed to continuous powerful splash caused mainly by hi-speed run. O0 {-) :D   Next time of trial run will be mainly checked at this point. O0 O0 O0
HOWEVER, SHE SAILED UNCONCERNEDLY and VIVIDLY this time too as in the pics.!!!!!!! {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) :-)) :-)) :-))
All the waves are by her powerful effect. %% %%  Originally the surface was mirror-like in the beginning. ;D

So impressive with long and a bit symmetrical splash in the 2nd pic from the last.... O0 :-))

tica,
Thank you so much for your good impression about the sailing scenes of my fast patrol boat still under trial run.

Arno,
I also do like to see a boat turning sharply and its wake left clearly behind the boat. :-)) :-)) :-))
The scenes of a boat/ship to turn are normally so dynamic by the waves around the bow through mid-ship followed by the wakes behind the stern which are also powerful to see dependent upon the speed. :-)) :-))   Wow wow!! %% %%

She looks REALLY good in action.  :-))

And you're right about a 'mirror-like' surface on the lake!   :}

KitS,
Thank you for your kind comment.! %%
........This day, the surface looks pretty well like a mirror when seen from the distant place as in the pic below.....
But actual surface was REALLY dirty as seen in another pic below....partly because of no water flow, not shaky on the lake like a mirror ..See pic3!! {:-{ %% :-X :o    This condition is nothing but a mirror, a water mirror.!!! :D {-) O0 :-))

I feel so happy to be able to attach a You-tube video of the second trial run which will surely let you know vividly how my fast boat conducted the trial on a calm lake this time. Please enjoy it.!!  She still needs more improvements to be undertaken soon.!! :D

The third day of trial run has come up this day welcomed by blue sky and calm surface WITHOUT green algae that means it's the best day for a test of the fast RC scale boat AT SPEED. O0 O0 O0 :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

That being so, I couldn't help doing so naturally since extended to the test by the best weather and nature fortunately this time. %% %%
Apart from the above, the pics taken this day were so impressive to me by the above conditions as to make me feel a good harmony between the best weather and the RC boat, namely the nature and artificial object... O0 :embarrassed: %)

In such a background, I would like you to feel such impressions as I had by the pics below.!!! :-)) :-))
Please enjoy the beautiful scenes accompanied by the RC boat.!! :embarrassed: :D {-)

Attn to pic no.5 in which you can see a catfish to welcome the test run approaching so close to the RC boat at the risk of her life
staying a while staring at the boat curiously..!! {-) {-) {-) :o :o :o

I suppose you may feel something so calm in the nature throughout the pics. O0 O0

Cheers!!

Here I attach a You-tube video of the third day of trial carried out at generally hi-speed than ever before.
After recovery, a slight smell from the motors as if they were blown off came up together with slight smoke in the hull... :o :o {:-{    Intensive checks later in my hobby room showed that right motor had suffered from over-heat problem subtly and I judged it as not a major issue for the next trial sailing. :-X

I do like "on-the-water" pics especially from this low angle when it comes to still condition. :-)) :-)) :-))

Thanks for your compliment and you really have noticed a good point of life buoys which are very important to install for a model ship as well as a real ship, aren't they.!!? Arno.   The accessories are scheduled to be added to my boat within the year. :embarrassed: :D

Sailing behavior has been greatly improved by some review of steering function and balance of the boat.
But water-resistant problem is a bit unsatisfactory to me still now as my practical lake-going RC boat.
I am totally reviewing the water ingress issue currently. {:-{ :embarrassed:  Splash by speed is "gorgeous" as you may see by video and still pics. {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)   A real boat 1/1 is reportedly capable of running at 20-25knots at full speed while easily over 40 knots possibly for my boat at scale speed...!!!??? {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)
However, I pushed throttle stick to only half AT THE LARGEST...!!!!! And she goes up to 40 knots easily in a few seconds..!!!! {-) {-)
Cheap Mabuchi motors are tremendously powerful for this 41" RC fast boat really !!

In this sense, not only I but also you will never be able to see the boat running at full throttle forever and ever...for me and for her safety and lives.!! {-) {-) {-)

A Merry Christmas to all,!! :-))        It's a Christmas Eve tonight.!!!
I used to go to the Christian Sunday school every Sunday from elementary school days through high school period while not in the Christian university days though my parents were Buddhists only in mind. {-) {-)
Japan is one of the Buddhist country while Emperor's family is Shintoism from about 2700 years ago and the present Emperor Naruhito is said to be the 126th successor by a certain ancient document as well as its historians....

Apart from the above, some of my RC boats enjoyed the Christmas sailings with lovely childish Santa Clauses in recent years as seen in the pics below. :-)) :-)) :-)) %% %% %%   I wonder if you can identify a tiny childish Santa standing on the roof of a fore cabin of my patrol boat by the pics..??? :embarrassed:

Enjoy a happy Christmas in addition to a happy RC boating, mates.!!
Cheers.!!

Well, I have comprehensively checked my boat referring partly to the videos and reset her this time.
For the purpose of confirming the result by actual sailing, I soon will get her trial sailing as the 4th day of trial run.!!!
That being so, I got the boat in my dry-dock pool to see how the important balance is done preliminarily and she has passed the
exams I imposed on by a score of 95 points. {-) {-)  Not perfect but passing level.. :-)) :-)) :D  Although it's only static level of pass....not as a RC fast scale boat on the lake. :D {-)  Final exams are always to be held on the water by the water in my case as far as RC boat is concerned. {-) {-) {-) O0 O0 O0

Wishing you a very merry Christmas as well, Kiyo! Nice idea with the Santa figures {-)
Over here it is very cold and windy at the moment. The club pond is frozen and sailing a boat is impossible. Interesting that you have a background with Christian traditions :-)

I feel so sorry to know that Arno is unable to enjoy a splendid sailing on the water currently due to frozen club pond... :(( :-X <:(
While in Japan located south than Germany, it's still around over11 degrees C in these days so that I could enjoy the trial run of 4th day as seen below. Take a look at the Pic No1 for instance, !! mirror-like surface this day too.!! Best condition for trial run, isn't it.?! :-))
Water ingress countermeasure is not still sufficient while she ran nearly compromise-able for me.
Even water ingress has been gradually decreasing but not sufficiently. {-) {-) {-)
In the next time of trial, she may pass the sailing exam. possibly dependent upon my solution. {-)
The score of this day was around 85 points and passing level is over 90 points. :embarrassed:
Attached you-tube video shows a vivid and stable behavior of the boat in the latest trial run. :embarrassed: :-))

It's beeeen really good days here in Tokyo as usual in these early winters keeping a temperature between 11 degrees C and 15 with a wind speed of 1m/s or 2m/s and clear fine in the sky...gents.!! :-)) :-)) :-))
Why on earth can't I go out for RC boating benefitted by such a nature/circumstances as well as spare time..???!! O0 :embarrassed:

That being so, I did go out to our boating lake this day too. %)
It was really delicious lunch with wife-made rice balls after the fifth day of trial run which ended in the best sailing result, namely water ingress was 1.5 small spoonfuls of water which was so negligible small for my tough runner on the lake.
This level of volume does not matter practically for RC sailing AT ALL so that I should give the sailing result a passing level of 91 points. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) %% %% %% %% %%

Hullo Kiyo....

Your IJN915 looks superb on the water :-))

In your image 7.JPG, is that a thermos of hot tea, or a thermos of cold SAKI?  :o   ....you obviously need something to warm you up, and also to flavour the rice balls made by your good Lady...why don't you post the recipe?

For the past week or so, we see bubbles forming on the water, does this mean the water itself is fermenting?...it may be good for making SAKATA Seaweed flavored Rice Crackers? which taste pretty yummie just by themselves

Complements forthe coming Y2026.............. Derek

Hi Derek,
So glad to have your friendly comment and questions. !! :embarrassed:
Just for your information about our "Navy"(to be exact, Japan maritime self-defence force=JMSDF)
Before the end of WW2, our navy was designated as Imperial Japan Navy(IJN) under the control of the Emperor.
The Emperor's authority over the Army and Navy since the end of WW2 has been totally transferred to the prime minister and the minister of defence to control the self-defence forces. Nevertheless, the naval ensign is the common between two navies. {-)
That being so, only  "Japan navy" is recommended to use although formally to be called JMSDF.
Curious to say, I used to call normally our JMSDF "Japan Navy" whenever having talked with foreign business partners to smooth the business talks in the meetings. {-) {-) :o

Apart from the above serious matter, I reply to your questions as follows;
1)As for the thermos, hot green tea was in that since I have to drive my car for transportation of the RC boat.
Saki is not correct , Sake is correct to write.
2)It is still warm here reaching some times over 15 degrees C around noon and feel a bit hot in the sun with no wind really..!! :embarrassed: ;D
3)The bubbles were often or normally seen right after the boat passed at higher speed by which I suppose the phenomenon might have been generated by the high rotating screw props. The same kind of bubbles are also seen in my other boats frequently at hi-speed run. Not so unusual for me... O0
4) Sakata sea weed...???  I haven't heard about that name.... {:-{  "Yamamoto" sea weed is so famous in Japan...??

A Happy New Year to you all watching earnestly this splendid Forum.!!! :-))   :}
It's a New Year's Day today, and so calm and clear fine in the sky here in Tokyo as usual as seen in every year. O0
With benefitted by these circumstances, I can't help getting exited at the RC boating activities from the beginning of this year, too. {-)   I would like to report this build log with a lot of pics which might vividly represent the contents of the build so concretely much better than lots of words. :-))  Seeing is always believing.! O0 {-) :-))

That being so, let's begin with the latest and last trial run of my fictious patrol boat of Japan Navy.
This trial run came up to 5th day of the test and I have gotten compromise-able level of sailing results as in the pics below.
Steering maneuverability including a quick turn, unstable and unnecessary rolling/shaking at straight run, sailing behaviours at top and low speeds, excessive bow-up at fast speed,  general impression on sailing.....generally,OK!!

Attn to picNo4, a heron was observing seriously/curiously ? my boat passing from the opposite side of bank.
Enjoy the great nature and a small RC boat.!! :-)) :-)) {-)

Wishing you all here a very happy model boating in this 2026 too.!!!!! :-)) :-)) :-))

It snowed yesterday for the first time here in Tokyo for this winter though so short a time less than 1 hour and so small amount.... {-) %)

I am so happy to be able to post a 5th and last you-tube video of my successful trial run after about one month long trial-and- error adjustment of this fast RC scale boat. :-)) :-)) :-))  As I mentioned before, I'm satisfied with this level of sailing behavior as a fast RC scale boat. In other words, I should perhaps say "compromise-able level of sailing" since there's nothing to do any more to get her run far better than current level with my skill. :-)) :-)) :-)) %% %% %%
In this sense, sailing property adjustment stage is now over as in the video below to be followed by the additional minor detailing works.  ok2
All that left for me and her is just to add above mentioned detailing works, and enjoy amusement runs on the lake that I have been waiting to do so.!! :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
