No, but I got my eyes on it!
I'd like to have it, as I enjoy that aspect of the hobby. I have a Turnigy i10 that I have lots of programming on to handle my boats with twin props and bow thrusters, for the fun of it.
I like the 3axis sticks and the side levers on the Paladin.
Like you I'm curious to hear about it eventually.
Hama

This is my thread of programming with 3 different conditions controlled from the tx, I use this on all my twin screw/now thruster boats.

Based on the best video I’m going to order one next week for after my holiday.
So much easier for old farts than OpenTX

I'm concerned about buying this from Banggood due to the lack of information about receiving goods in the UK through customs.
They are currently selling at prices "including VAT" but no information as to whether they are actually registered with HMRC and collecting VAT legitimately. So I could get charged again as its not clear what happens.

I've now ordered and paid for the Flagship edition.
Banggood did reply after the fact that no further charges should be made as they collect the VAT for the relevant country.
I found the reg VAT number on the invoice.
The VAT portion was £85 and the percentage is different for each country depending on how each rate a commodity.

There is now a Facebook group specifically for the Paladin PL18EV

Re: Paladin EV radio Buying from Banggood
« Reply #13 on: August 22, 2021, 08:24:08 pm »

So here an update of my experience
Having paid VAT to Banggood at point of purchase I have since been billed by DHL Express for further VAT and duty.
The VAT being £51.19 and £11 duty.
After a number of emails to customer service they have now apologised and agreed to pay me a refund of the VAT requested by DHL
This is the easiest solution but it should not be happening ! and will not do Banggood any favours with customer feedback.
I have checked with HMRC online and the VAT registered number for Banggood is genuine.
Clearly there is a communication/paperwork hole between Banggood and their choice of courier

I phoned DHL this morning to ask why they were asking for VAT when it has already been taken by Banggood
Their reply was that the seller had market the package as Tax and duty unpaid.
Clearly Banggood have an internal communication and staff training issue.
I emailed Banggood with this information and also pointed out that they charged over £85 VAT whilst DHL only charged £51.19
I told them that unless they offer prices net of VAT I won’t be using them anymore as clearly it is better to leave charges to customs in UK.

Aside from this the radio is already at LEEDS distribution centre on hold, despite estimated delivery date of September 16th

You want the whole £85 back from Bangood, Andy
not just the VAT requested by DHL.
Knowing you, you have probably done that
already being a shrewd Yorkie👍

Not sure if trust DHL with importing these days.  They charged me £180 to collect a parcel from them back in February.  2 months later they sent me a demand for payment again. They wouldn't take my original card receipt, or contact the depot itself to confirm it was already paid. The depot said they wouldn't help direct as it was done and dusted on the day or had any access to accounts team. They finally closed it out in June when someone who wasn't in the call centre in India got involved and actually read all the mails, but they're still contacting me recently about it!  Seems none of their departments are joined up or will speak to each other if there's a problem, they just want to keep taking money and they won't release the items if it's not paid for first so it's really daft.

does anybody know of an article or video that shows what the differences are between the PL18 and the PL18ev?  the price difference between the two is over $200, and i am curious what exactly that $200 gets me.

Hi, Customs fees by carriers are a rip of, they collect fees from recipient, no matter if paid by sender. My advice is to always challenge. Since brexit I regularly Organise shipment by my company; large multinational US based corporation. We have a customs account with all major carriers, despite this when delivered in UK, the carrier issues invoice to recipient, when challenged they admit admin error. Imagine how much they make of ones never challenged when they charge 20% vat plus handling charge.

Just returned early from holiday to find the 8 channel receiver through the letterbox. No charges applied.

If anyone was in any doubt about the legitimacy of Banggood  {-)   {-)  despite paying £37 inc VAT the package was marked as "commercial sample" with a value of $9USD

Can you smell that  >:-o

I've paid the DHL invoice to clear the Transmitter kit and arranged delivery for Wednesday.

Hi Andy

Looking at ordering one of these to use with my survey ship, what was the total cost you paid if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks

Russ
